It was Danger Shop time again.

Except Kerrigan wasn't wearing any armor.

"Thanks to certain students in this class," she said, crossing her arms, "We have a slight change in the curriculum today. We are going to be concerned with diplomacy and its advantages in the field."

She didn't sound like she felt it had any advantages in the field of all places.

"Since I still believe we all learn by doing, that means we're using the sim to place you in a situation where you will have to negotiate yourself out or die. As this class is his particular gift to us, Adama ~~if he is here~~ can go first. And show you all how it's done."

"There has to be another option," he murmured. "Have you been helping them? Or is this comm warning all they get?"

"THE COMM WARNING IS A NEW COURTESY IN THE NAME OF HALLOWED TASSADAR," the Executor stated. Slightly peevishly.

"But you were doing other things to warn everyone before you abandoned the planet, right?" Luke asked worriedly.

"THIS IS NOT A PROTOSS PLANET," the Executor considered Luke curiously, "WE HAVE ONLY JUST ARRIVED."

"You're going to destroy someone else's planet?"

"WE ARE REMOVING THE ZERG SCOURGE FROM THE SKIN OF THE UNIVERSE." Because that made everything better, obviously.

Um.

"Um," said Luke. "Did the beings on this planet ask you to take care of this problem you think they have?"

"IT DOES NOT MATTER. ALL TERRANS MUST EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY."

Because they were all idiots. Artanis would facepalm if he had the inclination.

"Because you're taking care of their problem for them." Luke sounded a little less neutral now. "What kind of thanks do you expect to receive after you destroy their home without their permission and theoretically for their own good?"

"YOU ARE A LOWER SPECIES. WE DO NOT REQUIRE YOUR THANKS. YOU ARE TO EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY."

Terrans. Who needed them?

"I beg your pardon?" Luke blinked. "Lower species?"

"I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS."

The screen blinked off. Then on again, showing a human face:

"Hello? Is anyone out there?"

"Hello? Yes!" Luke replied. "Do you need help?"

"Listen! Kid! You gotta get out of the line of fire! We're about ready to engage those Protoss over there."

The man sounded urgent.

"...what about the Zerg?" Luke asked, looking around for where the battle might be beginning.

So he could towards of course. Stupid unarmed Jedi.

"God knows where those are, we got pockets jumping all over the place," the Terran informed him.

The battle? Well, there was an army with visible tanks rolling up in front of Luke...

...and another army of unidentified mechanical construction coming up behind him.

Ah, planning.

"Fantastic," Luke muttered to himself. "Are you the tanks or the other things?" he asked.

"We're tanks," the Terran informed him, "The other things are 'Toss. I suggest you get outta there pronto."

"It's not my first battle," Luke said, trotting towards the tanks. "Are we past the talking stage already?"

"They're trying to blow up our planet. I think that constitutes 'past talking'," the Terran told him gruffly.

"Is there another way to get rid of the Zerg?" Luke asked.

The Terran shrugged. "You shoot 'em, they die."

Luke chewed on his lower lip. "So is there something else of value on this planet for the 'Toss to try to use this excuse to take it over? Or are they suffering from severe overkill?"

"They're 'Toss," the mostly unimpressed man told him, "They know no kill like overkill."

And that sounded familiar too.

"Are you doing this to buy time for people to get out of the way?" he asked, "or are you really hoping to stop the 'Toss here?"
