It was Danger Shop time again.

Except Kerrigan wasn't wearing any armor.

That would've been the first tip-off right there.

"Thanks to certain students in this class," she said, crossing her arms, "We have a slight change in the curriculum today. We are going to be concerned with diplomacy and its advantages in the field."

She didn't sound like she felt it had any advantages in the field of all places.

"Since I still believe we all learn by doing, that means we're using the sim to place you in a situation where you will have to negotiate yourself out or die. As this class is his particular gift to us, Adama ~~if he is here~~ can go first. And show you all how it's done."

If you thought she was smirking, you thought wrong.

Really.

Diplomatically.

Short and repressedly evil-laughter-filled as it is.

You find yourself between two armies with nothing but a com link to keep you company. There's a human and an alien commander glaring at you through it. Good luck.

He's probably the most diplomatic of all.

She's caught between being really amused and being annoyed at herself. She might not be a diplomat, but she's got the skills to incite rebellion, dammit.

...

And talking to people is better than killing them.

The opportunity just doesn't tend to come up much.

Muhahahahaha.

Gwynn Hood

Gwynn took careful notes, agreeing on some of the points of diplomacy.

Harriet was standing unobtrusively at the back of the Shop, observing the class. She'd be paying careful attention to the practical, as well.

Feel free to pretend she's not there if you want to. Or not.

Lee Adama

Lee was already rolling his eyes and looking like he wanted to be anywhere but in class when he heard both the topic of discussion and that he had to go first.

Since he had to be first, Lee was there, keeping the com link company. It was a mutually exclusive relationship, one born of a bond between plastic and human.

Or, Lee was just bored looking. Still.

And the com suddenly prattled to life, revealing the face of an extremely annoyed-looking military man.

"What the hell are you doing in our line of fire, boy?"

"Hanging out," Lee answered mildly. "Why are you guys needing to fire? No need to do that."

"NO NEED TO FIRE?" The man sounded like he was either going to have a laughing fit or shoot someone personally. "Have you looked behind your own ass, boy? There's Protoss on that hill!"

"What'd that Protoss do to you?" Lee asked pointedly. "He looks like he's minding his own business."

"WHY YOU--"

Right at that moment, a distortion blocked him from view.

An alien appeared instead.

"TERRAN. PLEASE EVACUATE YOURSELF PROMPTLY."

"No," he answered, shaking his head. "I'm staying right here. You guys don't need to shoot each other. So, stop asking me to move and let's have a discussion."

"THIS IS A COURTESY, TERRAN," the alien declared, "WE ARE ABOUT TO CLEAN THIS PLANET OF THE SCOURGE UPON IT."

"I don't want your courtesy," Lee said and winced. "And stop yelling. I'm right frakking here."

Crackle.

"Did you hear that?!" the Terran snarled, "They're going to burn down our homes!"

There was a faint rumbling noise in the background. It passed.

"No one's doing anything," Lee said, rolling his eyes. He was doing that a lot. "What will it take for you guys to not kill each other?"

The man was momentarily speechless.

"He just told you he's gonna 'clean' our home, d'you have any idea what that means?! We are DEFENDING OURSELVES!"

"Hey, other guy," Lee said, not knowing what these guys were and not really caring right now. "Why are you trying to clean their homes?"
