The screens in Spider’s classroom this morning are showing various scenes from around the school and school grounds. Various students are in the study hall, walking between the buildings, arguing, making out… just another average morning.

Spider’s desk is covered in maps and there are semi-transparent displays clustered around him as he rummages. Before the desk, on an easel, is the following notice.

Students:

Today we’re going to discuss the student election process because, to date, I haven’t seen any process at all. Do the candidates have stated public platforms yet? Have there been debates scheduled? Do we have a date for the elections themselves? What, exactly, are the duties and powers for the various positions?

Discuss and/or ferret out the answers.

((OOC: There will be a later post regarding tomorrow’s field trip. I have to go back and check who signed up to go and whether they all really have turned in their permission slips. I also have to go back and respond to students in yesterday’s class because last night got a little out of hand so I didn’t get back to that – and my deepest apologies.))

"So," Rory says, eager to change the topic, "has Logan figured out that you guys were the ones who, ahem, drained his supply?"

"Maybe? But we just got it back a couple of days ago, so hopefully he's no longer baying for blood," Jake grins. "He hasn't been eyeing me evilly, I know that."

"Yeah, he's been a bit distracted being mad at me," Rory agrees, smiling.

"What did you do? I mean, I can't imagine it could have been anything really bad." Jake smiles back, tilting her head.

"I got kissed by another guy," Rory says flatly. "No, I didn't kiss him back, and I told him in very clear terms that I was dating Logan. Who, incidently, didn't take it well, as you might imagine. But it's all fixed now," she adds with a wry grin.

"Oh good. Is that why you were by the house? I thought I heard you..?"

"Yeah, that was why."

Rory arches a brow. "So...all your housemates are guys, right? I lose track of who lives there and who doesn't."

"Right now it's just Logan and Barbossa and me. And the experiments Radek left before he got eaten, or whatever." Jake frowns. "I think Logan mentioned two other people at some point, but they got eaten real quick, 'cause I don't think I've seen them."

"Wow," Rory muses. "I would love to live off-campus. Have my own room and everything," she says dreamily. "I just got a new roommate, and it's making things difficult."

"You could move in with us?" Jake suggests, grinning.

"Pff," she scoffs, "how weird would that be? Only girl - aside from you, I mean, but I'm not really counting you as a girl - in a houseful of guys, one of whom is my boyfriend."

She snorts in a way that would make her grandmother faint with the unladylikeness of it all, and says, "Oh yeah. My mom would love that. She already dislikes Logan enough as it is."

"She does?" Jake says, a little brighter than the situation warranted, perhaps. She was great with parents... When she was a boy. Right, right. "I mean, I guess he can be a little bratty. Or a lot."

Rory rollsher eyes. "She hasn't really met him. She just doesn't like him because...um...of the circumstances of how we got together," Rory says, blushing. "Thank God she doesn't know that he was the one who blew up Luke's."

Jake's eyebrows arches. "He did that? I didn't know that!"

"Well, him and a couple others. But it was, y'know, an anti-zombie thing. It's not like he got so mad over the prospect of meeting my parents that he blew up my stepdad's diner," Rory says, laughing.

Jake grins back. "Honestly? I wouldn't put it past him, but this was at least in a good cause." She happens to look up and over at the Professor's message. "Hey, you're running for something, right?"

"Student Relations Officer," Rory says with a smile. "Care to profile me or whatever?"

"No, I'm in Advanced. Already turned in my homework (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/127267.html?thread=5576483#t5576483)," Jake explains. "But, like, what's a Student Relations Officer supposed to do?" She holds up her notebook and pen expectantly.

"Well...relate to the students, I guess, as obvious as that sounds. Like, part of my platform is that I'm going to - through the radio or the paper or something - keep everyone up to date on the changes and stuff being made in the student government," Rory says thoughtfully. "I mean, so many people feel like student politcs have nothing to do with them - and I want to fix that."

"What about coffee? How does coffee figure in in your platform?" Jake takes notes busily.

"Well, coffee, of course, keeps my platform going," Rory answers, grinning. "Without coffee, it wouldn't be so much as a campaign as a sad observation."

She adopts an informative, gossipy tone. "People would say, 'Oh look, there's Rory Gilmore. She used to be so motivited, and so pretty, but now she is naught but sluggishness, paleness and eyebags!'"

She picks up one of her several remaining cups. "Besides, coffee is a good motivator. Or bribe. However you want to look at it."

Jake laughs appreciatively, scribbling (http://www.livejournal.com/users/courier_gavin/7798.html) industriously. "Personally, I like to think of it as 'lifeblood'. Um, okay, how do you want to get the students more involved?"

"Take suggestions, of course. I'll probably set up some kind of suggestion box. Though," she adds, frowning a little, "knowing this crowd, I'll have to weed through them for actual suggestions. And I'm basically going to be the PR for the student government. You have a concern, or a question, take it up with me. And I'll do what I can to address everyone."

Jake frowns back. "Does't the principal already have a suggestion box?"

Rory's brow creases. "Does she? That I didn't know. But this will be more focused - things that the government can actually fix, rather than school-wide concerns."
