Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Zoe was very impressed with how well the construction people had done in rebuilding the school, and the grounds had been cleared just in time for the picnic to welcome the new students and teachers. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs, one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. Part two is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"Unfortunately, no," John replied. "We had big prehistoric monsters attacking campus just a month or so ago."

"And this place is still allowed to stay open?"

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

"Well, yeah," John said. "It's not like the monsters are still around."

"Right, of course," Lee said, still processing the whole monsters things. "Attacks happen often?"

"Not often enough to send students running home," John didn't want to freak Lee out too much.

"So, you have any special skills or powers?" John was always curious about this part of getting to know the newbies.

"I can't fly or anything," he said, laughing at his own stupid joke. "Well, not without a ship."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
John's ears perked up, "You fly ships?"

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Lee nodded. "Not that I have a ship here but back on Caprica, yeah, I could fly. They wouldn't let me bring one here."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's too bad," John was always disappointed to hear people couldn't bring their ships with them. "I'm training to be a pilot myself, just not in space."

"Oh yeah?" This big brother thing just got better. "What do you fly?"

"Back home I flew small planes and helicopters, but here I took the Flight class and we flew X-Wings, an F-16, pod racers, speeders, swoop bikes, a Starfighter, and a large shuttle. It was great," John grinned. "That class was awesome."

"Frak," Lee said, eyes widening. "I missed that?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, sorry," John said. "But I hear Prof. Skywalker is pretty nice about letting trained people use the sim." Or maybe that was just Jaina.

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Damn." He'd have to ask this Skywalker person sometime later. "So, what's a big brother supposed to do? We don't have to, you know, stay attached to each other, do we?"

Only if we want to, Lee. And in ways that are most pleasant.

"I think I'm supposed to be helpful and answer questions," John replied. "But really, I'm just an acquaintance they force on you so they can say, 'look he has a friend the first day!'"

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
PRETTY!

"Oh, good," Lee replied, nodding. "Not that I mind but I thought we might have to hold hands or something."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Or SOMETHING, YES. But we might be able to arrange some handholding afterwards.

"Well, holding hands is pretty standard and, sadly, required," John teased.

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Saying you might be too tired for hand holding after?

"Really?" Lee smiled. "You want to hold my hand?"

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Assuming the during goes as expected, yes.

"It's not a question of want, Lee," John explained. "It's more about need."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope you've got staaaaaaaaamina, then. You'll need it.

"A need to hold my hand?" Lee asked, looking amused. "It would make our bonding experience stronger, somehow?"

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got stamina in spades, if you're up for the challenge.

"A need so I don't get fired from big brotherdom," John grinned. "They're all about the touchy feely. We should just be glad there's no enforced hugging. Though I hear that's in the works."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Think I can make being up for the challenge happen. Quite quickly.

"All right, so we should hold hands." Lee had no idea why he was proposing this. "I wouldn't want you to get fired."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the only natural response. And such a good one.

"Right," John didn't even know if he could be fired or why in the world he had jokingly started this. "Because we're fake brothers."

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be full of fun response, oh yes.

"Right." Lee's thoughts had wandered down the same path as John's. "So. Fake brothers...hold hands."

Hadn't they just been talking about ships?

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Bursting with response?

"But only in an incredibly manly way," John qualified it. Because we're pilots."

And talking about ships was way better.
