The class had been handwavily instructed to report to the Danger Room Shop for today's class. Vala was looking especially smug as she played with the dials on the machine and munched on an apple.

"Hello," she greeted them cheerfully, "and welcome to what I'm sure will be an enlightening afternoon for you. Today we will be dealing with how to obtain your treasure or priceless artifact, once you've located it. As I'm sure you probably already know, in many instances, people who collect priceless and historically important artifacts and works of art tend to have elaborate security systems protecting these items and making it more difficult--but, and this is important, not impossible--for an enterprising individual such as one of you to obtain or liberate them."

"So, in today's class, there will be a number of scenarios programmed into the trust computer imaging system here, and your assignment will be to free it from its unfortunate incarceration. Please be aware that there will be a number of alarm systems and surprises along the way. There is also a table with tools," she gestured towards a number of burglary tools that were nicely arrayed on a table at the side of the room in Vanna White-esque fahion, "should you require them. Also, feel free to ask any questions along the way, and either my charming minion-er, assistant-or myself will answer you as soon as we can."

Savannah walked around the enclosure carefully, studying it as she did so.

During her explorations, Savannah would probably notice a very large, metallic, and heavy-looking piece of technology, displayed in a case behind glass on one side and walls on the other.

No other visible security measures were present.

John stepped toward the glass enclosure, trying to see if there were booby traps that would stop him from cutting the glass.

There were no visible booby traps. Just the naquadah bomb, looking very innocent and like it would fetch a good price on the black market.

John got out the big circle glass cutter thingy and attached it to the glass. He cut a big circle and pulled the glass away carefully. It seemed too easy.

Almost immediately, a set of heavy iron bars slid into position between John and the treasure.

John figured something was gonna happen, but not that. He got one of those plasma cutter-like things and started cutting through the bars.

John might hear footsteps approaching behind him, depending on the noise of the plasma cutter. They would sound like high-heeled shoes on hard flooring.

The plasma cutter was loud, John heard nothing as he continued working, very determinedly.

A gorgeous redheaded woman in a tight black party dress cleared her throat. "Excuse me, but should you be doing that? That looks rather illegal."

John turned and looked at the woman in the tight dress. "Um. Hi! I'm John." He put down the cutter and stood up. "Are you also here for the treasure?" he asked. John's mind was racing with ideas of how he could get this woman to help him or knock her unconscious so he wouldn't have to worry about her.

"Treasure? What treasure?" She tossed her hair over her shoulder and smiled coyly at him, "I'm just looking for the restroom. There's a benefit in the other room, you know."

"A benefit, you say. Well, I think the benefit to you looking for the restroom was finding me and this treasure." He gestured at the case. "If you help me, I'll give you half of the reward." He was lying.

Rikku entered the room and I don't know Vala's canon so please thwap me if any of this is wrong and saw the sealed glass enclosure in the center of the room. Okay. She began misting the hairspray looking for laser tripwires.

No laser tripwires became evident after the misting. Just the large, heavy, shiny piece of technology sitting behind glass.

It is, however, accessible by a card reader. The tamper circuit is also embedded in the glass, and not accessible.

Well, she's not very good with the high-tech, since her world seriously lacks it. Okay. She decides to jam a knife into the card reader and see if maybe she can jimmy it a little and see what the hell happens then.

What the hell happens is that a silent alarm was triggered, alerting the guards. Depending on their response time, Rikku had anywhere from three minutes to an hour and a half to finish what she was doing.

Nothing appeared to have changed, though.

Rikku made a face. Great. It didn't do anything. She pocketed the knife and looked around.

High-tech? Not her thing. Let's crank this old school with the good-old-fashioned smash and grab.

She digs the circular tool thing out and decides to cut a hole in the glass. She's got a smoke bomb in her other hand, should she need it.

As soon as Rikku lifted the glass free from the hole she'd cut, a large steel plate slid down between the bomb and the cut glass.

Depending on Rikku's hearing, there might also be the sound of far-off approaching footsteps.

Rikku made a face. Steel plate. Lame.

She still has the smoke bomb handy, which is good, because if she's not mistaken there might be company coming soon.

Company might be helpful; they might have one of those card-things. In the meantime, if everything's gone to hell, might as well not worry about being quiet.

Company came running into the room and stopped in the doorway, shocked to see a young girl smacking a steel plate with a crowbar.

It wasn't a particularly elegant solution, that was for certain. One, a large, burly man who smelled a bit like sauerkraut, advanced on Rikku with a pair of open handcuffs.

Oh, good. Company. And she was still holding a crowbar! Not a claw, but way better than nothing.

She slashed a few times with the crowbar, and aimed a low sweeping kick for his knees. If she could get him down, she might have a few seconds to check him for goodies before his friends joined the fun.

The guard was taken by surprise and fell to the floor after Rikku knocked his knees and feet out from under him. He was even polite enough to hit his head on a nearby statue when he fell.

Rikku was moved by his kindness and totally took a few seconds to frisk his pockets, looking for interesting keys, cards, or handy-dandy weapons. She's got one eye on his compadres over there by the door.
