Freelance Treasure Hunting, Monday, Period 5, Class #3
The class had been handwavily instructed to report to the Danger Room Shop for today's class. Vala was looking especially smug as she played with the dials on the machine and munched on an apple.
"Hello," she greeted them cheerfully, "and welcome to what I'm sure will be an enlightening afternoon for you. Today we will be dealing with how to obtain your treasure or priceless artifact, once you've located it. As I'm sure you probably already know, in many instances, people who collect priceless and historically important artifacts and works of art tend to have elaborate security systems protecting these items and making it more difficult--but, and this is important, not impossible--for an enterprising individual such as one of you to obtain or liberate them."
"So, in today's class, there will be a number of scenarios programmed into the trust computer imaging system here, and your assignment will be to free it from its unfortunate incarceration. Please be aware that there will be a number of alarm systems and surprises along the way. There is also a table with tools," she gestured towards a number of burglary tools that were nicely arrayed on a table at the side of the room in Vanna White-esque fahion, "should you require them. Also, feel free to ask any questions along the way, and either my charming minion-er, assistant-or myself will answer you as soon as we can."

Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
High-tech? Not her thing. Let's crank this old school with the good-old-fashioned smash and grab.
She digs the circular tool thing out and decides to cut a hole in the glass. She's got a smoke bomb in her other hand, should she need it.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
Depending on Rikku's hearing, there might also be the sound of far-off approaching footsteps.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
She still has the smoke bomb handy, which is good, because if she's not mistaken there might be company coming soon.
Company might be helpful; they might have one of those card-things. In the meantime, if everything's gone to hell, might as well not worry about being quiet.
Steel plate? Meet Mr. Crowbar!
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
It wasn't a particularly elegant solution, that was for certain. One, a large, burly man who smelled a bit like sauerkraut, advanced on Rikku with a pair of open handcuffs.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
She slashed a few times with the crowbar, and aimed a low sweeping kick for his knees. If she could get him down, she might have a few seconds to check him for goodies before his friends joined the fun.

Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
The compadre cadre was also showing a significant interest in Rikku.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
She tossed a smoke bomb over to the feet of the Authority Squad over there and popped the card into the card slot, hoping all that jimmying hadn't busted it.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
Still, there was probably room for someone to attempt to get through to the treasure.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
Hopefully she could hang on to the crow bar, since she wasn't out of the woods yet.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
However, if Rikku was examining the case, she might notice a small trap door directly behind the display podium, inside the enclosure.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
Looking over the case again, Rikku saw a trapdoor. Awesome.
First order of business: she grabbed another smoke bomb, to keep it handy in her left hand.
Second was squeezing through the hole into the enclosure. She had to lose the crowbar in her right hand to do it, but she remembered to pop a hand out afterwards and pull it in with her.
Now. She could kneel down and take a good look at that trapdoor. Were there any keyholes? If so, she'd try riffling through the keyring quickly looking for possible matches, and failing that, bust out the lockpicks. If not, she still had the crowbar...
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
However, the other guards had finally come over and were pounding on the steel door and yelling for Rikku to get out of there, so her time might be a bit limited.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
She found her best wavering voice. "You're not going to shoot, are you? I'm scared! I won't come out if you're gonna sh-shoot me!"
And in the meantime, threw open the trapdoor and started dragging the bomb over to it. As quietly as humanly freaking possible.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
"I'm s-scared of the taser, too! I'll come out with my hands up but only if you promise not to taser me! Do you p-p-promise?"
Time to find out where the trapdoor went! She hefted the bomb and very very carefully stepped through.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
The trapdoor, meanwhile, led to a tunnel. About halfway through, Rikku should begin to feel fresh air.
Re: Try to steal things--Naquadah Bomb
She still had the smoke bombs handy in case company came along, because they'd probably be moving faster. Not sure what good they'd be, in that case, but ... Rikku hurried faster. Fresh air. That was good. Right?
