Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

Aly raised an eyebrow. "Do I detect a note of mockery?"

He met her eyes, trying not to smirk. "I wouldn't dream of mocking you."

"Oh? How boring," she replied. And now she was the one smirking.

Roy laughed and glanced at the students. "Is this another Fandom tradition?"

"Free food and milling students?" Aly asked pertly.

"The stick and dancing," Roy corrected, figuring that yes free food and milling students did come together.

"Stick?" Aly replied before her eye lit on the limbo stick. She grinned. "The dancing's pretty ubiquitous, but I don't often see the stick, no."

"I wouldn't call that dancing," Roy decided, shaking his head.

Aly glanced over at the dancers. "They are moving their bodies in time to the music. Seems like dancing to me."

"We'll have to agree to disagree then," Roy said, not quite seeing the dancing in it.

She was still watching the dancing. "What is your definition of dancing then?"

He chuckled. "It's hard to describe, but not that."

"I don't know," she said dubiously. "That sounds like the excuse of a man who can't dance."

Roy raised an eyebrow at her. "I'll have you know that I'm not a bad dancer," he defended his honour.

"Of course you are."

She didn't sound challenging at all. Really.

"I suppose you need convincing?" he said, not quite wanting to let that challenge pass him by.

"Oh, I wouldn't want to force you," she said, smirking.

He rolled his eyes. "What if I insist?"

She held out her hand. "Then I'd have to allow you your way."

He took her hand in his and smiled at her. "You wouldn't be too put out?"

"I think I can manage to enjoy it," she teased.

"Very well then," he lightly squeezed her hand before guiding her to where the dancing was taking place. He stuck a bit to the side of the group, not wanting to bump into anyone, and turned to face Aly.

Aly smiled and gave him a tiny curtsy before putting her free hand on his shoulder.

Roy smiled and placed his hand lightly on her waist, keeping the required distance between them he started to lead her along. It wasn't an easy rhythm to find, but he wasn't about to let her think he was a bad dancer either.

They danced in silence for a few measure before Aly gave him a warm smile. "I find myself proven wrong, General Mustang."
