Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

The food table seemed an excellent place to start. Tannim loaded up a plate.

"Hey, Tannim," Charlie said, waving as she went back for a refill for her drink. "How's your week going?"

"Not too bad," Tannim smiled. He tried to lean suavely against the table, but he was in front of a decorative fruit display and he leaned back onto the points of an uncut pineapple. He jumped forward and managed to drop his entire plate of food at his feet. "Er, some days are better than others," he said, his face turning red.

Charlie bent down to grab the plate and give it back to him, and managed not to laugh, although she was smiling pretty big. "You're having one of my days, I guess. I had no idea there were so many people here," she added, looking around.

"Thanks," Tannim said. He cleaned up the mess as best he could, then started a fresh plate. "Yeah, it can be pretty overwhelming. Have you met a lot of people yet?"

"It seems like it, yeah, although I still haven't met everyone in my cabin. We just haven't run into each other," Charlie said, taking another sip of her drink. "I think I'm almost starting to get the hang of this, though. One cabin and one class at a time."

"What workshops are you taking?" Tannim asked.

"Arts & Crafts, Being a Mercenary, and Blowing Stuff Up. I didn't sign up for the Mercenary one, and I think the teacher's a little... off. But it seems okay so far. What about you? Were you in any of those, and I missed it due to being completely overwhelmed?"

"Nope, I have Firearms 101 and Flight and Flying," Tannim said. "Your classes sound pretty interesting. Is Blowing Things Up actually about explosives or is it just a creative approach to standard chemistry?"

"Explosives, and how to use them safely," Charlie explained. "And not magical ones, either, which I never thought I'd have to add onto a talk about blowing stuff up." She grinned. "So far everything's okay. Arts & Crafts were fun, we made little gremlins. Hey, what happens when one of those bites you?"

"You go insane for about twelve hours or so," Tannim said. "Usually people do something harmless but completely embarassing.

"Oh, wow. Embarassing how?" Charlie asked, looking worried. "Dancing on tables?"

"Like... thinking you're Bitterwoman and running around trying to dispense justice in a skimpy outfit," Tannim said.

Charlie gave him a horrified look, then snickered. "Okay, I'm completely avoiding little cute gremliny-type things, because that's just-- yeah, I can't pull off that outfit. Nope."

"Well, you're just as likely to end up thinking you're a Christmas tree or something," Tannim said. "Oh, avoid the cupcakes in the cafeteria. They have a similar effect."

"A Christmas tree could be fun," Charlie said, then blinked. "I had a hamburger? And some fries? But that was Monday, so I guess there's no delayed effects, hunh?" She grinned. "Have *you* ever been bitten by a gremlin?"

"No," Tannim said, and grinned. "I did eat a cupcake from the cafeteria, though."

"Well, it was an excellent cupcake," Tannim admitted. "But I spent the rest of the day thinking I was Santa Claus."

"I went from room to room passing out gifts," Tannim said sheepishly. "Mostly stuff I'd found in the basement."

"Pretty much, yeah," Tannim grinned. "I guess people are used to weirdness around here. What would you do if I walked into your room ho-ho-ho-ing and handed you something random?"

Charlie choked on her drink, spluttering. "I.. . guess it would depend on what it was?" she said weakly, turning bright red. "Um. Yeah."
