After the class had assembled by the main campfire, Ares, still with blue hair, appeared before them. "Welcome, class, I'm Ares, God of War, and before you ask, yes, I am an actual god, with powers, so don't bother trying to prove I'm not¹, because it gets boring after a while, and when I get bored, bad things start happening."

"Now, you're all here because you have some self-confidence issues, and man, I can see why, but don't worry, by the time I'm through with you, you'll believe you can take on anything, and take over anywhere. And who knows? Someone of you might actually be able to."

"We'll start things off easy, and get into the hard stuff next week, so today I'm going to want you to introduce yourselves, tell me and the rest of the class a little about yourself, what you want out of this class, any weapons and or fighting experience you may have, that kind of thing."

Z slipped a note across to Karal. Hi! Are you new? I'm Z.

It knocked him out of his shock and he smiled shyly at her before reading her note, not sure what to do after that.

Altra rolled his eyes. :Write back, obviously.:

So Karal, in very neat and precise script, wrote back: I am. I'm Karal. Good to meet you., and passed it back.

Z wrote back: Are you ok all right? No offense, but you look kind of freaked.

The script was not quite so precise this time, and Karal's eyes were wide as he handed it back. He claims he is a god!

Z gave Karal--how was she supposed to pronounce that, anyway?--a dubious look and handed the paper back. Yeah. And?

Karal read it, looked over at Z, then stared at the note for awhile, uncertain how to respond. He finally wrote, And it is wrong to claim to be a god., and tentatively passed it over.

Z was a long time writing her response. Not if you actually are one. Which he could be, I don't know. Ares = Greek god of war, here. She handed the paper to Karal with a shrug.

Which he took an even longer time over, with no idea how to respond. He is not a god.

:Thank her for the information:, Altra suggested, and truly, it seemed like the safest response. Thank you for the information, he wrote, and handed it over with a slightly strained smile.

Let me guess, Z wrote. You're not from around here.

He nodded when he read it, and wrote, No, from Karse. Very far away from here, in another world.

Well, welcome to America, then.

He smiled more naturally at that and ducked his head, mouthing, 'Thank you,' back at her.
