Self Confidence the Ares Way, [Thursday, Period 2]

After the class had assembled by the main campfire, Ares, still with blue hair, appeared before them. "Welcome, class, I'm Ares, God of War, and before you ask, yes, I am an actual god, with powers, so don't bother trying to prove I'm not¹, because it gets boring after a while, and when I get bored, bad things start happening."

"Now, you're all here because you have some self-confidence issues, and man, I can see why, but don't worry, by the time I'm through with you, you'll believe you can take on anything, and take over anywhere. And who knows? Someone of you might actually be able to."

"We'll start things off easy, and get into the hard stuff next week, so today I'm going to want you to introduce yourselves, tell me and the rest of the class a little about yourself, what you want out of this class, any weapons and or fighting experience you may have, that kind of thing."

Wyatt wasn't sure how he ended up in this class. "I'm Wyatt Halliwell," he said. "I'm 17. I think I'm in here by mistake. I don't really have any confidence issues. But I'm destined to become a power-hungry control freak, so my mun thought it would be funny to sign me up."

"Denial is a terrible thing Mr Halliwell," Ares said. "Luckily, power-hungry control freaks are my favourite kind of student, and being a Greek god means we can work around your sad lack of breasts. Any weapons experience?"

"Shawn Farrell, I'm 18." He doesn't really think he needs to be here, but might as well keep that to himself. "And, I'm a fourty-four hundred," he finished. It was one of the more interesting facts about himself, after all.

"My name is Vi," Vi began, trying to sound self-assured. "I'm 16. I'm in here because I never used to be very confident, and I want to kind of get over that."

The blonde girl stood up and nodded quickly.

"My name is Naminé. I'm fifteen, I suppose." That was too complicated to get into. "I like to draw, and I'm not terribly interesting. I don't have any self-confidence, so I thought this might be a helpful workshop."

She wasn't sure she had a self, either, but maybe this workshop would help anyway.

Karal, with Altra pressed close against his leg, staring at Ares, stood and smoothed down his robes. "My name is Karal Austreben. I am sixteen and a Sun-priest of Vkandis Sunlord. I have no fighting skills." He was trying very hard to hide his outrage that this person was claiming to be a god. "I am not certain why I am taking this class."

"Hi, I'm Elizabeth Delgado," Z said, "Uh, call me Z. I'm sixteen--or, okay, technically I'm almost two, but that's something interesting about me! I'm from the future. I'm a Space Patrol Delta cadet, hence the uniform, and--" she'd pretty much given up on trying to keep this a secret-- "I can make copies of myself."

Naminé found herself staring at Ares. The hair color was unusual, but it suited him in a strange way. She was trying to get the details of it down so that she could sketch him later from memory. It would probably be rude to do so during class.

"He cannot truly expect us to believe he is god," Karal whispered urgently, glancing down at Altra

:Oh, he expects you to believe it, all right.: Altra didn't look up, kept his gaze fixed on Ares.

It was blasphemy of the highest order, outrageous. He'd learned to accept the existence of other gods, he'd seen Avatars of the Star-Eyed, but this...Karal was beginning to have an inkling as to why he'd been placed in this class.

After class, Naminé walked tentatively up to his desk. And wondered how you addressed a god, as "Mr. Ares" sounded ludicrous.
