Really, this place was just getting absolutely ridiculous.

It was about time someone rational seized control.

And if people could come up with something like the Flying Spaghetti Monster, well. Steerpike had no doubts as to his own ability.

Sam may be whimpering at her desk, wondering where sanity and rationality have gone and muttering something about half-lives, carbon dating, and fossils.

She also really, really hopes those religions were as satirical as they seemed.

After a brief struggle with competing urges, Jack sat next to Sam, looking at her for a long time - she couldn't have, not Sam - before saying, "Hi."

He hadn't, he'd been awake all night with Cedric. He shrugged, drummed his fingers on the table as he debated whether to tell her about Cedric or not. But if they'd been in on selling him out to Lana together, she might already know...

Jack groaned quietly and put his head down on the desk. "I'm okay."

Sam reached out for Jack, hesitated, then decided to hell with Ares. "No, you're not," she ran a hand down his head, "want to tell me? Or go back to bed and you can borrow my notes if you decide you need them?"

He tensed under her touch, his suspicions flaring to life, but he shoved them down. It was Sam. Until he saw proof, he wouldn't believe she'd hurt him like that. "No, I need to be here," he said, making himself relax and smile at her. "And I need to tell you about Cedric."

Jack lifted his head and looked at Sam, some of the helplessness he'd felt showing in his face. "His magic is gone," he said, very quietly. "And he's terrified."

Anders was too busy looking dazed and . . . kind of afterglowy, really, to pay any attention.

"You find noodley appendages dirty?" she asked, before shaking her head. "Forget it, it is."

"So what's been up in your world?" Mentally she ran through the list she'd made based on the radio. She didn't recall hearing Anders' name mentioned with Lana, Phoebe's or Marie's.

He wasn't going to hedge any bets on whether or not Bel would kill him.

"Yeah, Bridge hasn't been having a good time of it lately. But hopefully we're going to fix that." Isabel shook her head, "Apparently Lana got hold of a book in Special Collections and got possessed or something and has managed to infect Marie and Phoebe as well. They've been tossing spells at people and messing with their heads all week."
