Having missed his usual shift last Thursday due to a sudden case of girl, Bridge arrives at the library right after DAMM class.

"Well, Lando said that, but I think we was kidding," Luke said. "And the Sarlaac didn't get him so it was funny and not, you know, tragic."

"I approve of people not being eaten," Bridge nods. "What's a Sarlaac?" he asks curiously.

"It's a creature that lives in the sand in Tatooine. It's a couple meters across--basically all mouth and tentacles. One of the gangsters used to like feeding people to it if they displeased him."

He laughed. "I wonder if my father would punch it, too. It's a bit like a sand-bound giant squid."

"...Ew," Bridge says. "He *punched* a squid?" Bridge raises an eyebrow. "Was he piloting anything at the time? Or are we talking actual punching with his fist here?"

"Actual punching," Luke said, still looking a little weirded out by the idea. "...I don't really get him."

"I don't either," Bridge admits. "I mean, punching a giant squid if you happen to be piloting a giant robot is one thing, but just... punching it? That's kind of weird."

Luke blinked. "Piloting a giant robot?" he repeated.

"Um," Bridge says. "Okay, granted, most people from other realities seem to find *that* sort of weird, but. Yes. Giant robot. Getting stepped on was a very real threat where I grew up."

Luke snickered. "That was only a danger if you got too close to a herd of banthas back home."

"So thaaaat's where the banthabell came from, then," Bridge realises.

Luke nodded. "My father never mentioned the banthas?"

"All I remember is they were some sort of herd animal, and he sang the dreidel song with banthabell accompaniment once."

"They're really big, really hairy and you really don't want to get too close to them," Luke told him. "What's a dreidel?"

"A kind of little top that's used for a game during Hanukkah," Bridge explains.

...That didn't help Luke much.

"Yay?" he tried.

"Uh, sorry," Bridge facepalms. "That really didn't explain much at all did it?"

Luke shook his head. "Not really."

"Sorry," Bridge apologises. "Uh, this might be a bit long-winded... Hanukkah's a holiday from my religion... with lots of really good food but that's not actually my point. Um. This time. It celebrates the rededication of the Temple after it was desecrated. There's this whole thing with how there was only enough oil for the candles in the Temple to burn for one day, but somehow it lasted for eight. A dreidel's got four sides, each with a different letter painted on it: Nun, Gimmel, Heh and Shin. Which stands for "Nes Gadol Haya Sham- A great miracle happened there". So, uh, you spin the top, and depending on what letter it lands on, you get all of the money in the pot, or half of it, or you have to put some in." He shrugs. "Told you it was long winded."

"You weren't wrong," Luke murmured under his breath, then flashed Bridge a polite smile. "So there's a song for spinning the top thing and my father sang it with a banthabell, then?"
