Home Ec [first period, Tuesday]

Today, it wasn't Emma Frost standing at the front of the room - it was a different, much more clothed and tired-looking blonde.

"Um, hi," she said with a nervous little wave. "My name's Hannelore Ellicott-Chatham. You can just call me Hannelore. Ms. Frost isn't feeling too swift, so she handwavey asked me to sub for her. Um. I've never done this before, so here's hoping I don't suck too badly."

"So, um," she continued, "she just left us a couple notes. We're going over cleaning and tidying and vacuuming and...." Hannelore gave a happy little sigh. "Okay, this is something I'm really good at. We're going to clean the classroom. There are vacuum cleaners, and just a few cleaning products in the back."

Hannelore pointed, where there was a plethora of vacuums, mops, Swiffers, sponges, and a seemingly-endless supply of cleaning fluids. Best not to ask how many of those came from Hannelore's apartment.

"All right, I brought you guys some stuff," she said, pulling out a huge box of HazMat suits and gasmasks. "I didn't bring all my supplies, but I don't want you guys to get sick!"

Not that they'd actually become ill cleaning the classroom.

"You can pick what you want to do. Oh, and this is Winslow," Hannelore said, pointing to an oversized iPod sitting on the desk. Winslow waved. "He's here to help me."

Hannelore kind of waved at the group. "Okay. Go. I'll be around and stuff if you need me." She then dug a set of suction cups out of her bag, strapped a belt equipped with several cleaning products around her waist, and climbed onto a table. Then with a little hop, she was on the ceiling, where she began to scrub.

[Wait for OCD, please]

Dawn thought for a minute, then took the mop and gave Berthold a top hat and long cape, and handed the mop back. "Your turn."

River took the mop and added a toothbrush, then gave the mop to Dawn again.

And then Berthold got a unicycle. Because every under the bed monster should have one.

River grinned happily at the unicycle and was just about to add a camera when someone walked past with a broom, ruining their painting.

"Hey!" Dawn frowned. "We were mopping!"

"No artistic appreciation," River commented.

"Heathens," Dawn nodded, "Someday they will regret the wanton destruction of a Tam and Summers holy water and dust painting."

"Our artwork will be remembered as the lost painting of Berthold with his first unicycle. Few will have seen it. A legend." She picked up the mop again. "If we mop this part clean we can add some dust as a painting instead."

"Oooh, okay, let's do that." Dawn agreed. She liked talking to River. River didn't think she was strange.

River didn't think 'strange' was a useful category when deciding on the character of people. She found Dawn creative and clever, not constrained by useless conventions. That was a good trait, of course.

Digging in one of her pockets she found a handful of pink glitter mixed with dust. "And we can add this."

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Where'd you get the glitter?" Dawn asked, moving some chairs out of the way so they'd have a bigger "canvas."

River shrugged. "Must have picked it up somewhere. Glitter seems to show up in strange places here."

They needed more than just a handful of glitter however. River brought the half-full bag from one of the hovers, a grin on her face. "Plenty of dust!"

Dawn grinned back. "So, dust with accents of glitter?"

River nodded and handed Dawn the bag. "Dust away."

Dawn took the bag and stuck her hand in, then tossed the dust up in the air over the damp floor, waiting to see what gravity decided the picture should be.

Apparently the dust wanted to be a big clump on the floor. Hmm. "It's a tree stump," she decided.

River added little glitter sprinkles. "And flowers."

Dawn tried to add a large tree on the other side of the flowers, so they could still get some sun. The trunk was a little lopsided, but the leaves didn't look so bad, even if they did need to be filled in.

River beamed. "Beautiful. Dust to dust." She added some glitter.

Giggling, Dawn sprinkled more dust. "Dust, in a vampiric state."

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The giggle was contagious. "Vampire dust? Morbid paintings."

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Morbid life," Dawn shrugged, then added what might generously be called a leather coat to the dust vampire.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
And River sprinkled some glitter on the coat. "We need a dust Slayer," she said.

Dawn offered the bag of dust to River. "Go for it. Not fair I'm the only one getting dirty."

River began spreading dust on the floor in a shape vaguely resembling Buffy with a stake in her hand. She thought for a moment and added a reaver knife in her other hand, then grinned at Dawn.

"What's that in her other hand?" Dawn asked, crouching down to see better.
