Home Ec [first period, Tuesday]

Today, it wasn't Emma Frost standing at the front of the room - it was a different, much more clothed and tired-looking blonde.

"Um, hi," she said with a nervous little wave. "My name's Hannelore Ellicott-Chatham. You can just call me Hannelore. Ms. Frost isn't feeling too swift, so she handwavey asked me to sub for her. Um. I've never done this before, so here's hoping I don't suck too badly."

"So, um," she continued, "she just left us a couple notes. We're going over cleaning and tidying and vacuuming and...." Hannelore gave a happy little sigh. "Okay, this is something I'm really good at. We're going to clean the classroom. There are vacuum cleaners, and just a few cleaning products in the back."

Hannelore pointed, where there was a plethora of vacuums, mops, Swiffers, sponges, and a seemingly-endless supply of cleaning fluids. Best not to ask how many of those came from Hannelore's apartment.

"All right, I brought you guys some stuff," she said, pulling out a huge box of HazMat suits and gasmasks. "I didn't bring all my supplies, but I don't want you guys to get sick!"

Not that they'd actually become ill cleaning the classroom.

"You can pick what you want to do. Oh, and this is Winslow," Hannelore said, pointing to an oversized iPod sitting on the desk. Winslow waved. "He's here to help me."

Hannelore kind of waved at the group. "Okay. Go. I'll be around and stuff if you need me." She then dug a set of suction cups out of her bag, strapped a belt equipped with several cleaning products around her waist, and climbed onto a table. Then with a little hop, she was on the ceiling, where she began to scrub.

[Wait for OCD, please]

Dawn grinned back. "So, dust with accents of glitter?"

River nodded and handed Dawn the bag. "Dust away."

Dawn took the bag and stuck her hand in, then tossed the dust up in the air over the damp floor, waiting to see what gravity decided the picture should be.

Apparently the dust wanted to be a big clump on the floor. Hmm. "It's a tree stump," she decided.

River added little glitter sprinkles. "And flowers."

Dawn tried to add a large tree on the other side of the flowers, so they could still get some sun. The trunk was a little lopsided, but the leaves didn't look so bad, even if they did need to be filled in.

River beamed. "Beautiful. Dust to dust." She added some glitter.

Giggling, Dawn sprinkled more dust. "Dust, in a vampiric state."

The giggle was contagious. "Vampire dust? Morbid paintings."

"Morbid life," Dawn shrugged, then added what might generously be called a leather coat to the dust vampire.

And River sprinkled some glitter on the coat. "We need a dust Slayer," she said.

Dawn offered the bag of dust to River. "Go for it. Not fair I'm the only one getting dirty."

River began spreading dust on the floor in a shape vaguely resembling Buffy with a stake in her hand. She thought for a moment and added a reaver knife in her other hand, then grinned at Dawn.

"What's that in her other hand?" Dawn asked, crouching down to see better.

"Reaver knife," River explained. "Buffy and I have a collection of them on our wall now." She didn't feel like talking about how they had got them.

"Sounds like her old training room," Dawn said, "Er, my Buffy. This one hasn't gotten hers yet."

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
River's face lit up. "So our room is like a training room?" Somehow she liked that idea.

Adding some more dust a little fish appeared, floating past the vampire.

Sure, why not? Dawn nodded. "It's a little smaller, and there's more stuff, but sure."

Dawn added a bigger fish next to the little one, wondering what Spike would have thought if random fish had started appearing in front of him.

"Spike?" River asked, adding a small turtle, who also floated in the air. It got some glitter on it's shell.

"A friend from home," Dawn explained, "Vampire, but didn't eat people, eventually. Kinda looked like Billy Idol, with bleached blond hair and a cool attitude." There might be the remnants of a crush there, but not much.

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
River smiled a little. She didn't know who Billy Idol was, but she'd got a clear enough picture. "So vampires aren't all bad?"

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"As far as I know, there's two out of...all of them...that weren't so bad," Dawn told her, "and one of them looks almost exactly like Seely Booth. The rest are generally evil and bitey."

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"So vampires can still be defined as evil," River concluded. "Just two exceptions. Never met one."

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep," Dawn nodded, then added, "Er, there may be other exceptions, but I haven't met any. And it gets confusing, because at different points in the timeline, both of the exceptions are evil and bitey, too."

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Souls?" River might have picked that up from Dawn's mind.

Re: Clean something! [03/06]

[identity profile] lilpunkinbelly.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Dawn nodded. "Yep. Except for Spike, who was...less bad once he had a chip, though he still wasn't good. Only problem is, there's really no way to check for a soul when you meet them. So, you're probably better off not inviting them in, if they ever show up."
