Tremble Foolish Mortals: The Gods and You , Class Six [Period 5, Thursday]

Once again the class was meeting in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like the kind of television studio boardroom you'd find all over Los Angeles. Ares looked especially sulky today.

"My half brother Hercules," he said. "Was a schulb. Half-god, half-mortal, and just because he had one of those strength of twenty men deals going on, thought he was better than both. The he gets picture deals, he gets television shows, I mean, a guy can't watch Aeon in peace anymore without coming across the schmuck."

"So today I'm not going to talk about Hercules," he touched a control, causing holograms of several different people to appear. "Since these television writers apparently know more about members of my family than I do, they're going to talk about Hercules."

He waved at the students. "Go on you little hellbeasts, have fun."

Jerry was cleaning his knives, making sure they were ready for any possible combat action.

He eyed the students warily, wondering if they'd be worthy opponents in paintball. It was all about strategy and a good soldier knew strategy.

Evie was feeling rather bewildered by all this, but game. "Right, um. What can you tell me about the twelve labors of Hercules, Mr.... Jerry?"

Jerry raised an eyebrow as he looked at the student before him.

"Well, little lady, Hercules has performed more labors on the show that I care to count. Which ones are you looking to hear about?"

"I was thinking of the traditional twelve," Evie said cautiously. "The Augean stables, the Nemean lion..."

"I don't know what you mean by the traditional twelve, I don't think we've ever written about them." Jerry remarked. "And I would know. I am the head writer." He smiled as if it was the most important position in the world.

"Um. Well then, why don't you tell us about your favorite adventure of Hercules?" Evie looked rather disappointed and confused, but still trying.

"I can certainly do that." Jerry nodded and thought about all the episodes of Hercules, that had been written. "It would have to be when Hercules was changed into a pig. That was quite an episode. Ares, once again, attempted to destroy Hercules, but unfortunately, he didn't succeed." It was a sad day for the God of War.

Evie glanced over to where their teacher had disappeared, and then back at Jerry. "Ummmm... Well. Then, Hercules was-- something of a... jerk?"

"No, he a genuine hero, little lady." Jerry admitted. "People loved the big guy. Me? I'm more a fan of the God of War myself. Now there's a character."

Billy might be. "Nice blades." Billy said.

Jerry finished cleaning his knives and placed them back into their sheath. "You know a lot about weapons, boy? You a soldier?" He was curious.

"My father was." Billy said. "Taught me a lot. Later I was trained by a family of ninjas." Bragging to a hologram? Who me?

Jerry was impressed. "Smart father, passing along knowledge to his son." Very good strategy indeed. "And I'm assuming you know how to fight, what with ninja training?" Jerry liked him all ready.

"Yeah I do. What, are you the stunt coordinator?"

"No, siree. I'm the head writer, thank you very much." Jerry seemed proud of his position. "You have a question about Hercules?"

"Yeah, actually, where do you get most of your inspiration for the series?"

"From real life." Jerry answered matter-of-factly. "It's usually when I'm out ~~hunting victims~~ paintballing."

"Nice." Alanna commented as she glanced over the knives.

Jerry raised an eyebrow. He always did like women who appreciated the finer qualities of life, like paintball and weapons.

"Howdy." He greeted her with a smile. "You know a lot about knives?"

Alanna shrugged. "They're not my favorite weapon, but people keep giving me them and they are useful if you don't have enough room to manuevor a sword."

"I find they're easy to handle." Jerry admitted. "And they're fun." To some that might sound creepy, but it didn't phase Jerry one bit. "You handle swords?" Oh, his interest was peaked.

Alanna did a quarter turn so that Lightning was visible. "Yup. This is Lightning."

Jerry let out a low whistle. "That there's some example of fine craftsmenship, hoo doggy." He might be oogling it, just a bit. Maybe.

At least he wasn't oggling her chest. Then there would be a practical demonstration. "It was a gift. So anyway, Hercules?"

Jerry would love to see a demonstration, just not one that would involved the sword being used on him. "What about him?"
