Rory wandered in earlier than usual in spite of what time this post is actually going up, and curled up at the desk with a notebook full of handwritten, highlighted notes as well as her laptop.

Aeryn kind of stares at her. "You've been drinking stimulant for thirteen years?"

"Do you shake all the time?" Aeryn asks, curiously.

"Nope," she says. "But I get awful headaches if I don't have any caffeine."

"Withdrawal symptoms do make sense after thirteen years..." she nods.

"My mom's worse," she says. "She's been drinking it even longer."

"I don't even think I'd be able to do it as long as you have," she says. "I tend to only have it when I really need it. Which is rare."

"It's as much a part of my day as showering or feeding Vladdie," Rory says, shrugging.

"And this is common?" Aeryn asks. There are still things she doesn't know, believe it or not.

"Not to my extreme, but yeah," she says. "Lots of people get caffeine headaches. We're kind of conditioned, as a society."

"I might stay away from that form of conditioning," she says. "If I want headaches, I'll just put John and Angel in the same room."

"Or stay up all night," Rory suggests with a little smile. "It does lovely work that way."

"Maybe drink less caffeine and you'll sleep better," she suggests, now a little worried that it might be making things worse for her.

"Nah, it's the only way I have any kind of focus," Rory says. "I'll sleep tonight."

"Are you going to go see him today?" she asks.

Rory laughs. "Be nice to Svalbard for me."

"Like he'll let me touch it," she says. And pauses. "Though I might be able to negotiate with it for China."

Rory raises her eyebrows. "Use of all Scandinavia while you're at it. He wouldn't let me keep anything but Svalbard, and I only got to keep that one because it matches my eyes."
