Library [02/09]

Rory wandered in earlier than usual ~~in spite of what time this post is actually going up~~, and curled up at the desk with a notebook full of handwritten, highlighted notes as well as her laptop.

Her first hour was spent going over said notes and drinking her coffee. Rory being Rory, she was excessively careful not to spill. They were important notes.

Then she cracked open her laptop and began googling different types of impenetrable materials, preferably in black. She wasn't expecting to find much.

Oddly enough, her search led her to both IKEA and Bed, Bath and Beyond, but nothing helpful.

Next, her research led her to WebMD, where she looked up burn victims and PTSD.

She wisely finished her work and closed that tab before she thought about eating.

To appease the likes of Luke and Bridge, Rory ate some Pringles even though she wasn't hungry before she set back to work.

After lunch, she set to typing up her notes and adding them to what she already had.

Then came a neatly typed list of questions, which she printed out and immediately stuck in her back pocket.

She spent her last period in there actually doing library work - dusting the shelves, putting away books, et cetera.

Okay, so it is my only day off this week, and I overslept which is why this is a little late. But does it make it better if I had "omg I need to get up and post the liberry" dreams?

Aeryn heads to the library later in the morning. Not that she's here to check up on anyone or anything.

"Hi!" Rory says, not bothering to close that tab since it's Aeryn.

"Hi," she says back, giving her a little smile in greeting. "I thought I'd come to see how you're doing."

She's honest.

"I'm okay," she says, and it's clearly not true, but she's trying. "How're you?"

"Good," she says, but she's still watching her. "You're sure about that?"

"I'm not great, but okay," Rory says with a nod. "Kind of had trouble sleeping lately, but it's not a big deal."

"Dreams?" she guesses. She's never had that problem but knows John has.

She nods. "And I have a really active imagination."

Aeryn frowns, and she almost doesn't want to know the answer. "What are you imagining?"

She looks around and lowers her voice. "How he ended up in the suit. What his life was like before that - with her. What'll happen if we fail at this. I spend a lot of time remembering, too. It's not good."

"Are you still at least going out, doing other things?" she asks, still frowning. "Anything to get your mind off of this?"

"I read," she says, shrugging. "I go to class. My letters from colleges should be coming any day now."

"And I hope that goes well," she says. "You know, you take something like this on, and you need to have some sort of balance. Otherwise you're going to make yourself sick. Or drive yourself mad. Whichever comes first."

"Maybe we'll get him to turn around first," she suggests.

"Perhaps. But there's no time frame on this and you need to take care of yourself first," Aeryn points out.

"I sleep when I'm too tired to dream," she tells her. "Are you holding up okay? Seriously?"
