Rory wandered in earlier than usual in spite of what time this post is actually going up, and curled up at the desk with a notebook full of handwritten, highlighted notes as well as her laptop.

"Maybe drink less caffeine and you'll sleep better," she suggests, now a little worried that it might be making things worse for her.

"Nah, it's the only way I have any kind of focus," Rory says. "I'll sleep tonight."

"Are you going to go see him today?" she asks.

"After I close up here," she says. "How was it?"

She pauses and says, "We're playing RISK next week."

Rory laughs. "Be nice to Svalbard for me."

"Like he'll let me touch it," she says. And pauses. "Though I might be able to negotiate with it for China."

Rory raises her eyebrows. "Use of all Scandinavia while you're at it. He wouldn't let me keep anything but Svalbard, and I only got to keep that one because it matches my eyes."

Aeryn knows the rest of Scandanavia won't matter. "I'll keep it in mind," she says. "It was the first week he didn't throw me out."

"Wow. He usually tosses me out, too. Or I start crying and leave of my own will," she muses.

"He usually throws me out, but there have been a couple of times that I said I was leaving and then he threw me out," she says. "It's getting easier on my end." She kind of feels bad saying that to Rory.

"It's getting more routine on mine," she offers, because she doesn't want to be pitied for something self-inflicted.

"Good routine or bad?" She actually does have to ask.

"Well, bad," she says, "because there's never a time I go in there that doesn't end with me feeling crappy. But it's kind of normal. It doesn't hurt as much anymore. I really do think we're getting somewhere, too."

"We're giving him choices, he's just got to take them," she says. "When it comes down to it, that's all we can do. The rest is his."

"Does he ever psychically communicate with you?" Rory asks. "It's something we used to do back when...you know, before. And he does it now with me sometimes. That in itself is huge, and he says things he wouldn't normally say. And he sounds like himself."

She shakes her head. "I told him in class I didn't want him in my head, and he's never tried it. He says things to you that way? That's... good."

"It's weird. He admits things. And he sounds exactly like he used to. It's...highly disconcerting."

"Voice and everything?" Weirdly, she almost can't imagine him without it at the moment.

"Exactly like his old voice," she says, nodding. "Maybe a little older-sounding."

"If he's actually letting you hear that... It has to be a good thing," she nods.

"I think it is," she says, nodding. "I'm not sure what it really means other than that in a very literal sense, our boy is still in there."

"He is," Aeryn says. "There are times when I talk to him that... there's no doubt in my mind that it's Anakin. He was telling me he'd kick my ass at Risk and I hardly even saw the suit."
