"Welcome, one and all, to the first school assembly of the new semester! In case you haven't met me yet, I am The Tick! Dean of Students here at Fandom High. That means that where student issues are concerned, I am the parking attendant in the self park garage of your education!"

"Today, we have a special in the garage! It's a special that speaks of a different kind of special you might get in a seedier garage. Today's special is called DANK: Drugs Are Not Kool! Spelling is cool, of course, but sometimes you have to make an exception and spell something with a 'k' to work. Anyway, we will have several speakers this afternoon, guiding your car into a parking space of a clean and healthy life! Please welcome our guests!"

[OOC: Each speaker will have their own thread, plus there will be a Q&A thread at the end of the post for them to ping into. Also, since it seems appropriate this time, there will be a thread for after the assembly to speak to the guests a bit more privately. Please wait to ask the speakers questions until the speakers have pinged in.

Turtle waved to Tannim and went to go sit next to him. "How lame is it that we don't even get outta classes for stupid assemblies?"

"Pretty lame," Tannim agreed. "I thought that was the whole point of assemblies. The break from classes."

"Exactly," Turtle enthused with a big sigh, but then extracted her little radio from her pocket. "I got this, though, jus' in case it gets too bad."

"Oh, smart," Tannim said. "What kind of music do you like?"

"I actually just use it to listen to market reports," Turtle admitted, maybe with a little bit of a blush. Because here she was, complaining about boring assemblies, and her cure was the market report. Way to be cool, Turtle.

"Market report?" Tannim asked, confused. "You get updates from the store?"

Turtle shook her head, and couldn't help a small chuckle. "No. Much bigger market. As in, New York Stock Exchange bigger."

"Oh!" Tannim said, feeling stupid. "So... how's the store going, anyway?"

"Good," Turtle's head bobbed in a bright nod. "We're getting both a new Squishy machine and a new cash register, so that's really exciting. Our profit loss from the broken Squishy machine has been...." She sucked in a deep breath. "A little staggering."

"Good that you're getting a replacement, then," Tannim said. "Y'know, I'm pretty good at fixing things. If it happens again."

"Yeah?" Turtle asked, tilting her head as she looked at Tannim. "Any kind of stuff? Although, I guess I would be pretty impressed if you fixed the Squishy machine. It had been hacked and slashed."

"Most stuff," Tannim said. "I'd have to look at it to know for sure, but I could probably find some spare parts, maybe do some welding to fix the old ones." Hacked and slashed? "What happened to it?"

Turtle shrugged. "I'm still not entirely sure of the story, but, basically? Someone attacked it. There were knife marks inside the thing, even."

She still wasn't sure what that implied, but Teddy seemed to have made a big deal out of it, so she figured it was important.

"Wow," Tannim said. "Did it happen this weekend? A lot of people were acting weird this weekend."

Turtle shook her head. "Beginning of last week, I think. I actually don't remember much of last week, except these really weird dreams about being a turtle. And not me Turtle, or even a stupid plushy turtle like Nova has, but an actual turtle."

"Could be worse," Tannim said. "My roommate spent the weekend thinking he was some kind of evil overlord."

That made Turtle grin a little. "Really? Who's your roommate?"

"Wyatt Halliwell," Tannim said. "It was weird. He was all 'I will make the world bend to my will!'"

Turtle was picturing Wyatt, complete with bad-movie villian mustashe, pronouncing stuff, and the giggling started.

"Oh, wow. Too bad ya didn't have a video camera, right?"

Tannim grinned. "No kidding! That'd've been cool." He remembered something. "Oh, one girl was running around with a camera that weekend. She might've gotten something of him."

Turtle chuckled. "Now there's an idea for the next assembly!"
