Rory wandered into the library earlier than she even had to be there, really, and positioned herself behind the desk.

Luke had a sudden giggle fit at the image of Hutts in giant print shirts demanding their food wiggly and alive. "Talk about culture shock," he snickered.

"No, culture shock is being an Earth girl in your galaxy," Rory said, grinning. "We only have the one species of sentient being. I mean, primates come pretty close, but it's just humans and then millions of species of animals."

"What was the strangest species you saw?" Luke asked, looking interested.

Rory bit her lip, and said, "I have no idea what he was, but there was this guy who owned a diner, Dex? He had like, ridges on his head and four arms. He told me I was pretty and to come back without Anakin."

Luke laughed. "How did my father react?"

"He looked like he swallowed his tongue. Especially when I flirted back, just for your dad's reaction," Rory said, snickering.

Luke laughed harder. "My father got jealous, huh?"

"Jealous and kind of squicked, not that I blame him," Rory laughed. "He was a jealous guy in general, though, yes."

"Squicked?" Luke repeated, looking confused by the unfamiliar word.

"He thought it was icky. Gross," Rory supplied.

Luke's syes sparkled. "Who was he to judge such an obvious love?" he asked. "Terribly narrow-minded of him, really."

Rory grinned. "See, that's what I said. I told him I was going to go back to Coruscant and live with my one true love."

Luke was back to laughing. "I'd love to have seen the look on his face."

"Have you ever taken a bite out of something that's really sour or really hot but you didn't realize it until it was too late?" Rory smirked. "That's how he looked."

"Like this?" he said, making the face.

For a moment, he looked just like Anakin.

And that look Rory was giving him was an interesting one. Hit-by-a-truck-in-love was a nice look for her.

"Yeah," she said softly. "Like that."

Luke blushed hard and stared at the floor.

He was pretty sure that look hadn't been for him.

Rory cleared her throat, shaking her head a little. "Um, anyway. Sunday okay for swimming?"

"Perfect," Luke said too quickly, then handed her Sun Tzu to get it checked out.

Force, he wished he could get Rory to look at him like that.

Rory smiled and took the book to scan it. "Okay. It's due back in a week."

"And since it's this school, I'm betting something horrible happens if I'm late returning it," he said, trying to get the teasing tone back.

It didn't really work.

"Well, it used to be that Zero Hopeless-Savage would chase you down with a mallet," Rory said, completely serious.

Luke blinked.

"Seriously?"

"Seriously. She did it to Bel. It was hilarious," Rory said.

Luke had a mental image of how that might have played out and burst out laughing. "I can imagine," he said between snickers. "I'll be back here next week, just to be safe."
