Library [10/18]

Balancing his coffee and a blueberry muffin precariously on one arm, Bridge opens up the library and settles in behind the desk with his mp3 player.

"That's very nice of you to offer," Bridge says with a grin. "Thanks."

"You're welcome!" Rory says in an outdoor voice.

"Shh!" Bridge tries very, very hard to look all stern and librarian-like.

Rory dutifully quiets down. "Nice shushing," she says. "Very authoritative."

"Thanks!" Bridge chirps, grinning at Rory, all traces of seriousness gone.

"I'm still not good at it, but I've also never had to be. People are good about being quiet here," she says, and wonders why she's still talking.

"Well, I think it helps that there's a semi-sentient section of the library," Bridge muses. "Scares people into behaving."

"I've threatened to toss people into SC. We really need to take you guys back there," Rory says thoughtfully.

"Yes!" Bridge says excitedly. "When can we do that?"

"Talk to Ms. Readman. If she says it's okay, I can go back with a few of you guys," Rory shrugs. "My first trip in, there was a monk who yelled at us, and we got lost."

"Were you being loud?"

"No, he called us mean names, though," Rory says, looking pouty. "And then Parker yelled."

Bridge frowns deeply at that. "Well, that's unfair. Why would anyone want to call you mean names?"

"He was a mean monk," she says, looking woeful. "The dragon was much nicer. So yes, we have to go in there because I guarantee you'll be startled at some point."

"I'd like that," Bridge says. "Um, the going in to Special Collections, not neccessarily the startling unless it's a good-startling rather than a bad-startling, but since I can't picture you doing something that would be bad-startling I guess you'd do something that's good-startling which... okay." He rambles.

Rory looks at Bridge for a second, and then just completely shuts off all the worries in her brain, and the doubt, and the confusion, and the overthinking.

Instead, not entirely certain what's possessed her to do so, she leans over and kisses him.

Well Rory had definitely succeeded in startling him, that was for sure. However, that didn't actually stop him from kissing *back*.

Rory, caught in a sudden attack of nerves, pulls back and says the only thing she can think of.

"Sorry," she says barely audibly, and blushes so hard that she might explode. She turns to flee.

Okay, and *that* startles him even more than the attempted fleeing.

"Don't be," Bridge says quietly. "Don't *leave*. Please?"

Rory gives him a shy smile. "You're not like...mad or offended or anything?" Her smile widens a fraction. "And I startled you, right?"

"I'm not mad," Bridge says with a shy smile of his own. "It was... really nice. And yeah, you did."

"I win!" Rory says, brightening a little more.

"As losses go, I have no complaints about that one at all." Bridge admits.

Rory blushes harder. "So maybe...itcouldhappenagainsometime?"

"I'd really like that," Bridge says, blushing as well.
