"I didn't mean to make you feel stupid or lonely. I am so sorry that I did," Peter replied. "But, honestly, Willow, you don't need to prove you belong. You do belong. Absolutely."

"I'm not a fighter," Willow reminded him. "I'm just a stupid girl who thinks she can pretend to be."

Peter raised an eyebrow. "Not at all. You don't always use conventional weapons for your battles, but I think you're a fighter and definitely not stupid. You wouldn't be here if you weren't."

"I'm not a huge embarassment to the club?" Willow asked.

"Hardly," Peter said emphatically. "You're brilliant and dedicated and more than a minor asset."

Willow moved sideways in her chair so that she could pillow her head on his hand. "I felt so dumb."

Peter bit his lip. "I oughten'd have made you feel dumb. I truly didn't mean to."

"Not your fault I don't know a lot about gun ranges," Willow said.

"It's not like I'm any type of expert either," Peter said.

"So what do we do?" Willow asked.

"I'm rather hoping you'll accept my apology," Peter replied.

"Promise you don't think I'm stupid?" Willow asked, more needing the reassurance in general than because of what he'd just said.

"I'll swear on my sword that I don't if you'd like me too," Peter said.

Willow gave him a little smile. "Thank you. I accept your apology."

Peter reached to take her other hand. "Thank you."

"Can we cross, like, the last twelve hours off the record?" Willow asked. "I'd be good with that."

"If you'd like, certainly," Peter replied. Not that he wouldn't have replied the same for any suggestion from 'I rather like fish for dinner' to 'might I have the moon on a pendant?'

Willow freed a hand to sketch a big X in the air. "There. All gone. We can have happy, snuggly things now."

"Absolutely," Peter agreed. He pulled the hand he was still holding towards him then bent his head to kiss the back of it.

Willow tugged on his hand. "Too far."

"Too far for what?" Peter asked.

"You," Willow said. She tugged again, trying to pull him into her chair with her. "You're too far."

Peter grinned and followed her pull. "I'm not sure that chair will fit both of us."

"It will," Willow said. She shifted over to sit on the armrest so that he could take the seat, and then she could sit in his lap.

Sitting down, Peter wrapped his arms around her when she sat on his lap. "This is much better."
