Detention, The Danger Shop, 09.08.06

When the students walked into the shop, they would see The Tick standing at a podium that probably looked vaguely futuristic back in the mid-1990's: a rounded white plastic frame and clear plexiglass. There were lights and smoke in the background. Behind Tick was a large sign with the following names listed:

Teddy Altman
Seely Booth
John Connor
Hikaru Hitachiin
Kaoru Hitachiin
Jude Lizowski
Jamie Madrox
Peter Pevensie
Setsuna Sakurazaki
Ranma Saotome
River Tam
Naomi Wildman

When everyone was in the shop, the Tick pushed a button on the Danger Shop remote and spotlights started swinging around.

"Hello, detentioned students! I am The Tick, and I'm not only your Dean of Students, but today I am also your host for Detention Gladiators!" Tick stayed silent as a vaguely patriotic-sounding theme song played for thirty seconds.

"Today you'll be competing in four challenges that will test your mind, body, heart, and ability to think like a crazy person! Hopefully by the end of our time together you'll have learned your lesson - or in Naomi's case set a positive example since she did nothing wrong - and will be ready to move on to the next phase of your lives, without rule breaking!"

"And remember, the Shop is set up with extensive safety protocols! You're completely safe! Explosions won't be real, brutes won't actually hit hard, and the sheer power of the criminal mind won't overwhelm you!"

"SPOOOON!"

[OOC: You do not need to know who any of the hologram NPCs are, but you might enjoy it more if you do. Here's some info on them. This should be crack crack crack and more crack, for the record. Detention will run from approximately 9 AM EST to 5 PM EST, but you're free to go when you've completed all of the tasks. If it takes longer, I'm fine playing longer if you are. :)

I'll be around all day and available on AIM if you need to talk to me: bugofjustice.]

Luckily, Jude was a teenage boy and had numerous hollow limbs, so was similarly stocking up. He slumped into the seat next to her.

"Detention sucks."

Sakurazaki, certainly not currently in the same opinion as Jude, tilted her head at him, but she did offer an encouraging smile. And then retained a stern evaluation as she poked around her food with a fork. "It hardly seems much like a detention at all, really," she determined.

However, after this and her first experience with detention, she was wondering if she should get into trouble more often. These were proving to be valuable excersizes in training and who knows how many she'd missed...

"Yeah, but it's detention. So it sucks by definition." A smile spread across his face. "But yesterday was totally worth it."

She grinned soft at him, trying to remind herself of Alphonse's scolding earlier that morning to see if it would prevent her from saying what she was thinking, but it didn't. "Yeah..." Sakurazaki said quietly. "It was actually pretty fun...."

Jude frowned. "Hey, what's wrong? I mean, it was kinda dumb and we did get caught, but it wasn't that bad . . ."

"No, it wasn't," she said, shoulders slumping a bit. She didn't mean to make Jude frown like that. "And that's what's wrong. I don't do these kinds of things, and I certainly don't enjoy them. But I did." She grinned at him lightly. "A lot."

"We'll make a delinquent teen out of you yet," Jude teased, slipping an arm around her waist. "Wait until you get to Toronto. Ron is not gonna know what hit him."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Grinning a little, Sakurazaki leaned into him as his arm slipped around. "So this is normal teen stuff, then, TPing, pranks, things like that?...And who's Ron?"

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Jude squinted one eyes shut, considering. "Yeah, I'd say normal teen stuff. And Ron is this mall security rent-a-cop. Thinks he's cool with his walkie talkie and his little golf cart." Jude chuckled. "He's fun to prank 'cause he goes this awesome shade of purple."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki nodded; good. If she was going to try to be a normal teen, she figured this whole ordeal was at least a nice, big step in the right direction. She grinned; it was a ridiculous amount of fun....

"Purple?" she asked, giving him a grinning look of doubt. "Really?"

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Jude nodded seriously. "Purple. His eyes kind of bug out, too, and his neck gets all veiny and he starts having flashbacks to wars he wasn't in."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki's mouth formed a little 'o' as she processed all of that. "Wars....he wasn't in?"

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Jude waved a hand. "Yeah. We think he's totally faking his whole military commander vibe."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
She arched a concerned eyebrow. "I guess that might explain why he's stuck with a crappy job like mall security..."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly." Jude raised a clenched fist and his eyes went flat as he did his best growling impression of Ron. "Herding little maggots who weren't even born when I was crawling through the jungles with nothing but a Swiss Army knife and a prayer, mistah!"

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Hiding a snort of a laugh behind her hand, Sakurazaki chuckled at the impression. "Oh, I have to meet him. 'Oh, which jungles?'" She blinked her eyes in an overly sweet and bad impression of herself in the imagined situation in her head. "'Because, you know, I've spent a month training in blah blah blah....'" She finished with a smirk, which quickly melted away into a bashful beam. "I really would like to go up there with you one of these days, you know. See where you're from, what Toronto's like, m...meet your friends and family..."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Well . . . I'm going home for Thanksgiving in about a month," Jude suggested after a moment, playing with his cutlery and not quite looking at her. "I've got some money saved up from work . . . shouldn't be too hard to buy another plane ticket."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
The blush growing deeper, Sakurazaki shook her head. "Oh, no, I still have so much money left over from my last mission that I could easily pay my own way, don't worry about that..."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Jude glanced up at her with a grin. "Was that a yes?"

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Conditionally, yes." Sakurazaki narrowed her eyes at him, but smiled. "I pay my way."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Not if I do it first," Jude grinned. "'Sides, only I know what flight I'm on to get you another ticket."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, because finding a flight to Canada on my own would be so difficult. Hell, if I gave myself enough rest before hand, I could probably fly up there myself." Sakurazaki had a great, powerful urge to stick her tongue out at Jude, but went instead for a kiss on his cheek.

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Jude fairly beamed at that little kiss. "Well, I wouldn't want you to get lost in the airport. Pearson's a scary kind of place, you know."

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"How scary?" Sakurazaki asked with a playful nudge, because he should know by now that she could handle a lot of scary.

Re: Lunch

[identity profile] dude-its-jude.livejournal.com 2006-09-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Pretty scary," Jude assured her seriously. "It's Canada. That's how we roll."
