Music is Love: [9/5]

As the students enter into the music room, previous students of music class might notice that the entire classroom has been renovated to look like a nightclub complete with stage, tables, booths and a bar which unfortunately has only non-alcoholic drinks. Damn it

When the students take their seats the lighting changes over the stage and Lorne appears and from nowhere music begins to play.

Getting to know you...
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.

Getting to know you,
Putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea

Scattered applause is heard even though the students may not be clapping. Funn that. Lorne smiles and begins to speak as the music continues to play in the background.

"Hello my cats and kittens of the classroom! For those of you don't
know me I'm Krevlornswath of The Deathwok Clan, but everybody calls me
Lorne. Or if you're a fan of kid shows, I'm better known as "Uncle
Lorne the green guy with Horns".

"Today's class is all about getting to know each other... I want you
all to pick a song and either sing it or play it for everyone and tell
us what that song means to you. You might ask why I picked my song?
Well frankly kids is because..."

Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day .. by ... day.

*Scattered Applause*

"Oh thank you! You're too kind!"

Zero tuned her guitar and proceeded to rock "I'm Your Cuddlebug (D-Bunnies Remix)"

"Baby when yer down 'n
When yer feelin' blue
Call me up late at night
There's sumpin' I can do fer you
Don't call yer sodding boyfriend
(He's a thug!)
I'm better for you baby...
'Cuz I'm yer squalling cuddlebug!"

Except she totally sang the whole song. Use your imaginations.

((OOC: Sadly, fragmentary lyrics are all canon gives me. If you like, I can find a real song for her to sing instead.))

"Um, it's not so much the lyrics, for one thing, as the song. My da wrote that song when he was thirteen. An' then there was this whole...thing, with the rights an' his old name, which my brother Rat was using, and anyway, that song is what brought my family back together. So it means a lot to me."

Jaye's song?

Mary Had a Little Lamb on a kazoo. It sounds a little like:

"Hmmmz hmmz hmmz hmmmz hmmzz zzzm zzmmm
Zmm zmmm zmmm
Zmmm zmm zmm
Hmmmz hmmz hmmmz hmmz hmmz hmmz hmmmz
Hmmz hmm hmmz hmmz hmmz hmmz."

She's not very good.

"It's nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood," says Jaye with only the briefest of pauses. "It makes me yearn for yesteryear."

Pip tuned his guitar and started into a guitar only version of "Texas Flood" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. He's not a great singer, but he tries his best.

Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby
Lord and I can't get a single sound

Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin'
Man it's about to drive poor me insane

Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well back home are no floods or tornados
Baby and the sun shines every day

Nadia had her guitar there as well.

Pip was a better player, but she was the better singer.

My city's still breathing, but barely, it's true,
Through buildings gone missing like teeth.
The sidewalks are watching me think about you,
Sparkled with broken glass.
I'm back with scars to show, back with these streets I know
Will never take me anywhere but here.

The stain in the carpet this drink in my hand,
These strangers whose faces I know,
We meet here for our dress rehearsal to say
"I wanted it this way,"
Wait for the year to drown, spring forward fall back down,
I'm trying not to wonder where you are.

All this time lingers undefined,
Someone choose who's left and who's leaving.

Memory will rust and erode into lists
Of all that you gave me,
A blanket, some matches, this pain in my chest,
The best parts of lonely.
Gaff tape and soldered wires, new words for old desires,
And every birthday card I threw away.

I wait in four-four time, count yellow highway lines,
That you're relying on to lead you home.

If Lorne's paying attention, well, he might just pick up on a lot of seniors leaving, and Nadia's own trip back to Argentina.

If not . . . it's a pretty neat song.

Chad...did not sing.

And the only instrument he played was the bass guitard, which limited his options of songs he could play that could be both defining and recognizable.

He pondered this delicate conundrum carefully.

And the placidly began to pluck out 'The Mexican Hat Dance.'

Parker is a trained singer. This does not mean she has a great voice. She doesn't. It's okay (but only up to kinda-good, sometimes), she can hit the notes, she can hold them (that, she's good at) but she'll never be an opera singer, Broadway singer, or rock star.

Keeping this in mind, she picks a song that'll send a message.

We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight
You were holding to me
Like a someone broken
And I couldn't tell you but I'm telling you now

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you and we'll both fall down

Fall on me
Tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you forever in me
Ever the same

We would stand in the wind
We were free like water
Flowing down
Under the warmth of the sun
Now it's cold and we're scared
And we've both been shaken
Hey, look at us
Man, this doesn't need to be the end

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you and we'll both fall down

Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same

You may need me there
To carry all your weight
But you're no burden I assure
You tide me over
With a warmth I'll not forget
But I can only give you love

Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same

Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same(Ever the same)

Parker waited a minute, then said, "Now. Really over-done song. But Rob Thomas sings it a lot better than I do, doesn't he?"

Zuko's eyes widened as Lorne started singing. Who the hell signed him up for this class to begin with. No, he was not getting up to perform.

He was eyeing the door and pondering to pull a runner however.

Marie noticed the look on Zuko's face. "You okay?" she asked.

Marie sat down at the piano, figuring she'd play & sing the same song as she did at the talent show.

After a moment of hesitation, she pulled off her gloves so she could play with ease. No one was close enough for her to accidentally touch.

There's a saying old says that love is blind
Still we're often told "seek and ye shall find"
So I'm going to seek a certain guy I've had in mind
Looking everywhere, haven't found him yet
He's the big affair I cannot forget
Only man I ever think of will regret

I'd like to add his initials to my monogram
Tell me where's the shepherd for this lost lamb

There's a somebody I'm longing to see
I hope that he turns out to be
Someone to watch over me

I'm a little lamb who's lost in a wood
I know I could always be good
To one who'll watch over me

Although he may not be the man some girls think of
As handsome to my heart
he carries the key

Won't you tell him please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh how I need
Someone to watch over me
Someone to watch over me

The moment the song was over, she tugged the gloves back on. Too bad she had no idea about Lorne's abilities. Her aura was probably pretty damn interesting right about now.

[ooc: now with corrected lyrics. I shouldn't do these things *right* after waking up.]

It was very possible Sam Carter was in hell. And not the fun kind she'd been to before, either. Instead of hiding under the desk or making a break for it the way she really wanted to, she decided to go with something that was low enough to not have embarrassing high notes, because wow, she couldn't hit them.

I'm one of a long line of good girls
Who choose the wrong guy to be sweet on
The girl with a face that says welcome
That men can wipe their feet on

I'm there when he calls me
The trusted girl friday alright
But what good does it do me
Alone on a saturday night

If you need a gal
To go without sal'ry and work too hard
You can always count on me
The kind of a pal
Who'd sneak you a file past the prison guard
Loyal to the "nth" degree
The boss is quite the ladies man
And that's my biggest gripe
Till i showed up he's never hired a girl cause she could type
I'm no femme fatale
But faithful and true as a saint bernard
Barkin' up the wrong damn tree
You can always count on me

There was more, but hopefully she wouldn't have to sing it.

JD walks up to the stage, looking a little green. He sings, at the top of his lungs and off key, "Once You Love Somebody" by Journey. His singing is something like a very hip, but very sick, tone deaf cat.

Two young hearts lost in love they vow to stay,
Running wild they believe they've found a way
Filled with hope

She's the dream, she understands you
Now this time He'll hold on, she'll never leave him
They'll never let go 'cause...

Once you love somebody, (once you love)
There's no turning back (turning back)
It can burn forever, it can haunt you, haunt you in the night
How can lovers just turn and walk away
Loneliness is an edge that cuts both ways
So easy to fall
So hard to get over

So easy to fall, so hard to get over
Once you love somebody, (once you love)
There's no turning back (turning back)
It can burn forever, it can haunt you, haunt you in the night
(Once you love somebody), once you love
(they can break your heart), no no no
It can burn forever, letting go, that's the hardest part

JD finishes, and makes a very florid bow before running off the stage.

Demyx whipped out his sitar - out of the water in the air - and thought of a song to play. 'Love in an Elevator' by Aerosmith was what came to mind.

"Workin' like a dog fo de boss man
Workin' for de company
I'm bettin' on the dice I'm tossin'
I'm gonna have a fantasy
But where am I gonna look?
They tell me that love is blind
I really need a girl like an open book
to read between the lines

Love in an elevator
Livin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up 'til I hit the ground

Jacki's in the elevator
Lingerie second floor
She said 'can I see you later
And love you just a little more?'
I kinda hope we get stuck
nobody gets out alive
She said I'll show ya how to fax in the mailroom honey
and have you home by five

Love in an elevator
Livin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up 'til I hit the ground

In the air, in the air, honey one more time not it ain't fair
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I'm goin' down

Love in an
elevator
goin' down

Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I hit the ground

Gonna be a penthouse pauper
Gonna be a millionaire
I'm gonna be a real fast talker
and have me a love affair
Gotta get my timin' right
It's a test that I gotta pass
I'll chase you all the way to teh stairway honey
Kiss your sassafras

Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Livin' it up 'til I hit the ground

Do you care? Do you care?
Honey one more time now it ain't fair.
Love in an elevator
Livin' it up when I'm goin' down"
