"Pete!" Broots grabbed his tray of mac and cheese and sat down at Pete's table. "So how's your first day of classes?" He took his laptop strap off of his shoulder.

"Hello Brrrrroots," Pete drawled, mouth full of macaroni and cheese. "Only got the one class today. And I ain't had that yet."

"Oh, which classes are you taking then?" Broots began the disection of his fruit cup.

"Introduction to 21st Century Popular Culture, Introduction to the 'Internet', whatever that is, Hunting, US Government, and Criminal Justice."

"I'm in US Government with you. And also in Spanish, World History, Applied Science, and Myth in History. I can show you what the Internet is, if you want. It's a computer thing."

Pete brightened, remembering what he'd seen on Conner's "computer". "Like them tentacles and the girls not wearin' much clothing?"

"...Um. Well, you can use the internet to find those things, sure. But it has other uses as well." Broots paused with a fork full of maccaroni on the way to his mouth. "Tentacles?"

Pete nodded. "They were wrappin' around this girl, like . . ." He gestured a bit wildly. "Fascinating technology you got, here."

"... ... ... Not all of us use the internet only for porn. There's plenty of other things out there as well. And well, yeah, that too."

"Why would anyone bother with anything else?"

"...You can use it for school work, hacking into the government, um, finding out more about something you're interested in. There's a ton of stuff you can do."

Nadia brightened again. "Hacking into the government, you say?" He paused. "Those things come with axes?"

Broots swallowed and back tracked. "Not litterally, it's a term. You go into the government's computers from yours only it's illegal and the reason I'm here."

"What good is it to go into their computers?"

"One, it's fun. Two, it's against the law. Three, nowdays, all information is stored on computers so if you get into the governments computers you basically know everything they do about everyone and everything."

". . . Including security on the gold?"

"We don't use gold as currency anymore." Broots informed him.

"Still worth somethin', ain't it?"

"Definetly, yeah. But all stores take dollars now and you would have to exchange your gold at the bank."

"Well, then, I'll just have to do that."

Broots nodded. "Any other concerns, questions, whatever?"

"Yeah. Where do I get a horse?"

"A what? Why would you need a horse?" Broots blinked. "And I have no clue."

"Why wouldn't I need one? They got stables here, they gotta have horses somewhere,"

"Guh? The island is tiny, you can walk around it in like half an hour. And if you leave the island on a horse, people will think you're insane."
