World History in a Nutshell - Week 1 (09/04)

It's entirely possible that Daniel is looking a wee bit jetlagged at the front of the class and is clutching at a cup of coffee like it's a lifeline.

He smiles as the class files in, leaning against his desk. Once they're all seated, he begins.

"Good afternoon and welcome to World History in a Nutshell. I'm Dr. Jackson, and I'll be taking you through this whirlwind tour of the history of Earth. On your desks is a copy of the tentative syllabus

First of all today, I'd like to go around the room and have everyone do a quick introduction so I can put names to faces."

After that was done, Daniel dimmed the lights.

"We're going to start off with an easy class on prehistory today. I have a documentary, which is about human evolution.

Once that's finished, I'm happy to take any questions and then you can take the Caveman Challenge. I'll be interested to see what percentage you'll get at the end."

"Um, I'm Dean Forrester. I'm from Stars Hollow, Connecticut, Chicago before that. I like reading and building things."

"Nice to meet you, Dean," said Daniel. "Chicago's a great place; I went to school there. What attracted you to this history class?"

"It really is. And, um. I don't know, I guess I always kind of liked history but never gave it much of a chance in school. I figured here would be a great place to try it," he said, looking around self-consciously.

Daniel grinned. "This will be a perfect chance to try it, as we'll be looking at so many different times," he said. "It'll hopefully give you a chance to see if there's one in particular you like over the rest."

Dean nodded, glancing at the syllabus and seeing how packed it was. "Plus, there are people around from a lot of these times, so there's first-hand accounts all over the school."

Daniel nodded. "Something which is definitely unique to Fandom," he said, grinning.
