The Library [9/4]

Yomiko arrived at the library bright and early, a cup of coffee from the Perk in hand. She was pulling a little wheeled suitcase with a very nice briefcase strapped to it. She set the briefcase on the desk in her office and did not open it. Then she opened the suitcase, took out the books she'd taken from the library the week previously, and set to work reshelving them.

It was her first real day of work at this job. She hoped everything went well.

"Yes, Angela told me. So that's all right, then," Yomiko said.

"Have you been back there yet?" Rory asked curiously.

"No," Yomiko said. "I wanted to learn more about it before I went back there. I've heard it can do strange things to the unprepared."

Rory nodded. "It ate two of our other librarians, we think."

Yomiko looked startled. "It ate them? But you've only had three!" The odds do not seem to be stacked in her favor.

"Well, one went in and never came out. We don't really know about the other," Rory said reassuringlyish.

Yomiko wibbled. And began to wonder why exactly Mr. Joker had picked her for this assignment.
