The Library [9/4]

Yomiko arrived at the library bright and early, a cup of coffee from the Perk in hand. She was pulling a little wheeled suitcase with a very nice briefcase strapped to it. She set the briefcase on the desk in her office and did not open it. Then she opened the suitcase, took out the books she'd taken from the library the week previously, and set to work reshelving them.

It was her first real day of work at this job. She hoped everything went well.

"I suppose I will," Yomiko said, smiling at Hermione. She reminded her of herself as a girl, for some reason. Maybe it was the giant stack of books. "Enjoy these, Hermione."

"Thank you, Ms. Readman," she says with a smile, putting them in her bag for easy carrying. Her posture is going to seriously suffer someday.

"Have you ever considered a wheeled bag?" Yomiko suggested. It's the only thing that's saved hers.

"It's difficult with stairs," she replies. "I'm all right. I'm entirely used to it."

"And it can be kind of hard to lug around the enemy fortress, but other than that, I've found it's worth the trouble," Yomiko told her. "But what am I saying? It's your spine."

That's the first time anyone besides her parents have told her that. It's also entirely possible Madam Pince knew Hermione was probably destined for serious back problems. "I'll consider it," she says.
