When the students were all in the Danger Shop ~~which they had totally handwavily been told was the location for the day, okay?~~, Becky smiled.

"Hi. Last workshop, finally. What we're doing here today is putting everything you've learned to good use."

She pressed a button on the remote, and the Danger Shop transformed into a poorly-lit, crowded bar. Onstage, a pretty blonde girl no older than eighteen was dancing and swinging a lasso.

And yes - it was all in black and white, as were the students themselves, save for a few splashes of color here and there.

"Your assignment, boys and girls, is to pick someone up. Find a seat at the bar or a table, and within minutes, someone'll come along. You're to make small talk with them, and then get the person in question to want to have sex with you. Make sure to specify what you're into, and that you use protection. People in Kadie's usually like to know these things. You have until the end of class today to accomplish this goal. People who make it into compromising positions get cookies."

She held up three fingers. "Juuuust a handful of rules before I turn you loose. One - if you get far enough to where the fake person wants to have sex with you, your portion of the Shop will dim immediately, and your person will vanish, like magic or something. No getting me in trouble. Two - order what you want from Shellie, but if you act drunk, you're getting detention. And three - things in Kadie's can get kinda rough. Be nice to the other patrons, and they'll be nice to you. And if they aren't, I'll take care of it. Oh, and if you have a significant other to worry about, don't sweat it, guys."

She glanced at Bridge, frowning. "They're virtual people, and you don't even have to touch most of 'em to let 'em know what you want. It's all about the talking, baby."

She smiled. "Make me proud, kids."

"Nice to meet you, Phoebe. Ever been to Kadie's before?" he asked gently.

Phoebe shook her head. "No, this is my first time. It seems like a nice plac." To hide. "Is this a regular place for you to make broken-hearted girls smile?" She gave him another smile.

"It's...really, it's my job to make girls smile," he replied with a quirk of his own lips. "But Kadie's is usually a good place to relax."

"You're good at you're job Mr... I don't believe you told me your name." She looked liked she wasn't going to cry right now.

"Call me what you like," he told her. "Names aren't important to me. And thank you, I do a lot of work to ensure I'm good at my job."

"I could call you Handsome if that's okay with you." It was as good of a name as any. "It's good to have pride in your work," she said with a smile. "Would you like to sit down?"

"Certainly," he said, taking a seat. "So, Phoebe, are you a student? You strike me as very smart."

Phoebe smiled. "Yeah, I'm a senior at the school."

"And what do you want to do after school?" he asked, steepling his fingers.

"As dumb as it sounds? I'd like to do something to help people. Yeah, it sounds cliche, but there are things in this world that people need protection frm." She tilted her head. "What do you do?"

"I'm in public service," he said smoothly. "Help people in what sense?"

Phoebe played with the hanky, not sure how to put what she wanted to do in words.

"There are horrible things out there that tear you down and trample on you. I'd like to help people find the courage and the strength to trample back."

"That's very admirable," he told her. "It's almost like what I do. I help people...rid themselves of bothersome things."

Phoebe smiled a genuine smile. "That's what I want to do," she said with a nod.

"Yeah? It's not hard once you have connections," he told her encouragingly.

"Then at least I know where I need to start," she said with a smile. "I need to find the right connections."

"Exactly," he said, nodding. "And it's best to know people on all sides of the law, too."

Phoebe smiled. "Oh I have friends like that."

He smiled as well. "Most people do."

"They come in handy."

"They do," he nodded. "Plus sometimes the shady ones need help, too."

Phoebe agreed. "People on all sides need help at one point or another."

"So you really need to be prepared to deal with all kinds of people. Not everyone's as nice as you or I," he said quietly.
