When the students were all in the Danger Shop ~~which they had totally handwavily been told was the location for the day, okay?~~, Becky smiled.

"Hi. Last workshop, finally. What we're doing here today is putting everything you've learned to good use."

She pressed a button on the remote, and the Danger Shop transformed into a poorly-lit, crowded bar. Onstage, a pretty blonde girl no older than eighteen was dancing and swinging a lasso.

And yes - it was all in black and white, as were the students themselves, save for a few splashes of color here and there.

"Your assignment, boys and girls, is to pick someone up. Find a seat at the bar or a table, and within minutes, someone'll come along. You're to make small talk with them, and then get the person in question to want to have sex with you. Make sure to specify what you're into, and that you use protection. People in Kadie's usually like to know these things. You have until the end of class today to accomplish this goal. People who make it into compromising positions get cookies."

She held up three fingers. "Juuuust a handful of rules before I turn you loose. One - if you get far enough to where the fake person wants to have sex with you, your portion of the Shop will dim immediately, and your person will vanish, like magic or something. No getting me in trouble. Two - order what you want from Shellie, but if you act drunk, you're getting detention. And three - things in Kadie's can get kinda rough. Be nice to the other patrons, and they'll be nice to you. And if they aren't, I'll take care of it. Oh, and if you have a significant other to worry about, don't sweat it, guys."

She glanced at Bridge, frowning. "They're virtual people, and you don't even have to touch most of 'em to let 'em know what you want. It's all about the talking, baby."

She smiled. "Make me proud, kids."

Sam's gut instinct was screaming at him to not go with the scary lady, but that wasn't the assignment, now was it? "With you? Uh, sure."

"You're into rough stuff, right?" she asked, already heading for the door.

"Rough stuff?" Sam repeated, stopping dead in his tracks. "That depends on---what do you mean by rough?"

"You know - ties, handcuffs, whips, auto-erotic asphyxiation," she rattled off, looking impatient.

His eyes widened a little more with each thing she listed, and he was outright pale by the time she mentioned asphyxiation. "Um, I'm really not sure about that last one," he said. "I kind of have a thing about choking. A bad thing, I mean."

"You'll learn to love it," Gail decided.

"Well, I don't know. I..." Sam trailed off weakly, giving her a highly nervous look. She may have just been a virtual person, but that didn't mean she wasn't a forceful virtual person. "Okay," he finally said.

"Good. You have cash, too, right?"

It was back to eye widening as Sam realized exactly what sort of woman she was. "I have some money, yeah," he said, trying for Dean-level smoothness again.

"I also take Visa, Mastercard and AmEx," she offered.

"Oh, okay. I've got a credit card," he said. One nice thing about credit fraud - he never had to worry about his dad finding the bill. "Um. These rough things that you do...are you sure they're safe?"

"Probably," she said, shrugging. "Only one way to find out."

"Um. Okay," Sam replied, not even trying to hide his nervousness now.

"C'mon," Gail said, heading for the exit.

Sam wondered if he should have filled out a will before he came to class, and started following Gail again.

That's when the lights in Sam's portion of the Danger Shop went out, and Becky's voice was heard.

"Good job, helpful tall kid. You got lucky. She's more armed than I am. You can come get your cookies, though."

Never before had Sam been so happy to see lights go out. "Oh thank god," he said, sounding relieved. "I don't know if 'lucky' is a word I'd use right now."
