When the students were all in the Danger Shop ~~which they had totally handwavily been told was the location for the day, okay?~~, Becky smiled.

"Hi. Last workshop, finally. What we're doing here today is putting everything you've learned to good use."

She pressed a button on the remote, and the Danger Shop transformed into a poorly-lit, crowded bar. Onstage, a pretty blonde girl no older than eighteen was dancing and swinging a lasso.

And yes - it was all in black and white, as were the students themselves, save for a few splashes of color here and there.

"Your assignment, boys and girls, is to pick someone up. Find a seat at the bar or a table, and within minutes, someone'll come along. You're to make small talk with them, and then get the person in question to want to have sex with you. Make sure to specify what you're into, and that you use protection. People in Kadie's usually like to know these things. You have until the end of class today to accomplish this goal. People who make it into compromising positions get cookies."

She held up three fingers. "Juuuust a handful of rules before I turn you loose. One - if you get far enough to where the fake person wants to have sex with you, your portion of the Shop will dim immediately, and your person will vanish, like magic or something. No getting me in trouble. Two - order what you want from Shellie, but if you act drunk, you're getting detention. And three - things in Kadie's can get kinda rough. Be nice to the other patrons, and they'll be nice to you. And if they aren't, I'll take care of it. Oh, and if you have a significant other to worry about, don't sweat it, guys."

She glanced at Bridge, frowning. "They're virtual people, and you don't even have to touch most of 'em to let 'em know what you want. It's all about the talking, baby."

She smiled. "Make me proud, kids."

"Anything y'like, sugar," she drawled. "We've got domestic, imports, and all the nicest of the hard stuff."

"Hmmm. Get me a Carlton Draught, then. The Aussies know how to make a good beer."

"Comin' right up, honey. What brings you all the way to Kadie's from...that's a French accent, right? You ain't Canadian or anything?"

Pip feigned insult. "Canadian? 'Course not. A Canadian could never pull off this kind of accent."

He shrugged. "I travel a lot, ma chere. My travels brought me here today."

"What's with the travelin'?" she asked, moving behind the bar to get his drink. "Got a reason, or just not wanting to settle down yet?"

"Part of my business. I go where the work is."

"And what kinda work is that?" she asked, sliding a glasss over the bar.

"Mercenary," Pip responded, taking the glass and smiling at the girl.

Shellie raised an eyebrow appreciatively. "Yeah? Should've known, a big, strong guy like you."

Pip laughed. "I always figured the eyepatch would give it away."

"Guys 'round here lose eyes all the time," she said, shrugging. "Basin City's a rough place."

"Damn," Pip said. "I guess I can't rely it to pick up girls then. Just my rugged good looks."

He winked at her.

"Well, it's not like you need a silly eyepatch," Shellie giggled, feigning shyness.

Pip grinned. "Well, not to pick up pretty girls like you, no. To keep from scaring pretty girls like you, yes."

"I don't scare easy, darlin'," she said smugly.

Pip leaned in. "So, not a screamer, then?"

"I didn't say that," she murmured, leaning against the bar with a smile.

"Oh ho. Am I going to get to hear proof of that?"

"Maybe," she said, raising an eyebrow. "If you want."

"Well then," Pip said. "What would you say if I said that very much wanted to?"

"I'd say that I have a break in about half an hour."

"In which case," Pip said, "I'd say that I have a sudden urge to only stay here for about half an hour more. Where?"

"Meet me by the back entrance?" she suggested. "My place isn't far."

Pip raised his glass. "To the back entrance, then."

That was when everything went dark and Becky's voice was heard. "Nice work. She would've gone with you and probably gotten bored or ruined your life, but that doesn't matter. Come and get your cookies now."
