Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #4

Jarod was waiting with his hands behind his back as the class arrived. "Hello again. I hope you've all recovered from having to tell the truth last week," he smirked, "because this week you'll be lying yourselves sick."

"You've shaded the truth so much that it's no longer believable, or someone has checked your references--in any event, you've been found out. Your job during this class is to either pair up or have a group of three of you, and for one of you to make the other person or people believe that you know what you're talking about. It's your job to get yourself out of whatever trouble you've gotten yourself into. But it's your partner's job to come up with the scenario."

"You're teenagers, so hopefully I won't have to tell you how to lie, but I'm here if you have questions."

[ooc: Not here until 6 pm EST. The way this works is: Partner 1 confronts Partner 2 with the scenario that's been flubbed. Partner 2 lies his or her way out of it.]

Joxer nodded. "You wanna be the wrong-doer or the lecturer?" he asked.

"Oh, I'd much rather be the wrong-doer."

Joxer thought for a second. "I'm very disappointed in you," he said. "I mean, falling asleep on the job is one thing, but falling asleep while the enemy sneaks up and paints you blue is a whole worse level."

"That never happened," Nadia responded with a completely straight face. "The entire situation has been misinterpreted."

"Misinterpreted? Would you care to tell me how exactly I'm misinterpreting the facts, here? Because my good scouts tell me you were sleeping. And blue."

Joxer was basically trying to do his best impression of his father. It was actually half-working for him.

"I was lulling the enemy into a false sense of security. By painting myself blue and pretending to be asleep, with such efficiency that if fooled even your scouts, I could allow the enemy to become overconfident and approach only close enough for me to attack them."

"And you were waiting until they had all passed you so you could sneak up on them from behind?" Joxer raised an eyebrow. He hated it when his dad did that.

"I planned to follow them discretely in order to determine what their plans were and gain valuable intelligence on the enemy before capturing them. You know how people lie during interrogations."

"That's a really good plan," Joxer said. "I never would've thought of that."

"Well, that's what I'm here for."

Joxer pointed. "You're really good at this."

Nadia shrugged. "Thanks. You want to try?"

Joxer gulped, but then nodded.

Nadia affected a very serious and angry expression. "And just what did you think you were doing with my boyfriend this Saturday?"

She had no idea that Joxer had actually had a run-in with Walter, it just kind of amused her to say that.

Joxer flailed.

"Walter's your boyfriend?!"

Kind of. Maybe. Not quite any more. Why do you ask?

"Yes," Nadia said, her expression still stern. "He is."

"I had no idea," Joxer said. "I swear, I wasn't sure what was going on, and he just sorta talked me into it. I had no, no idea."

Okay, and now Nadia was getting confused. "Talked you into what, exactly?" she asked dangerously.

"The sex," Joxer said, gulping. "I swear, I didn't know."

Right, they were lying. "So you think it's fun to just have random sex with any guy who happens to be around?"

"He was seducing me!" Joxer flailed. "He told me Kaylee would thank me for it, and he was very, very persuasive."

"And it didn't occur to you that that might just be a test?"

"I was confused," Joxer said. "And he was touching me in a very calming manner!"

He's lying, he's lying, he's lying, he's--no, wait, gremlin bite. Crap.

"He was under the influence of a gremlin bite. You were taking advantage of him."

Joxer's eyes bugged. "All I did was agree with him! I was the one being taken advantage of!"
