Game, FH Gym, 1 p.m. FHT

The gym was ready for the game assuming nothing crazy happened during detention, with a shiny floor, clean new nets, and two perfect basketballs lolling about. Everything was ready for the rematch between the blue and gold gremlins. Last time, gold had eked out a victory; this time, it was anyone's game.

Play ball.

Archie had no particular interest in basketball, but Veronica had convinced him that they should come see the game, so here he was, looking oddly at the court and not in any way anticipating making sense of any of it.

Veronica would really have preferred if they stayed in her room again, but she felt bad about missing the last game and decided they should probably leave for at least a few hours.

She was holding Archie's hand though and had no intention of letting go anytime soon.

"This will be fun," she said.

"I hope so," Archie replied, rubbing his thumb across her knuckles. "I've no idea what's happening though!"

"I can explain it," Veronica said. "It's not that hard." She noticed Nadia in her gremlin outfit. "There's Nadia," she told Archie, pointing.

"Is it really?" Archie laughed. "That's a hell of an outfit she's got herself."

"She's the mascot," Veronica explained. "Granted, I'm not entirely sure why gremlins are our mascot since they're vile little creatures."

"I suppose," Veronica said as the whistle blew and she watched Nadia double over (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/956873.html?thread=50458313#t50458313). She stood up and watched in horror as Nadia appeared to turn into a gremlin. "Oh no."

"Not firsthand," Archie replied, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "And you know how gossip gets twisted around here."

"No, I'm afraid not," Archie said, looking oddly at Walter. Shouldn't he know this? "They're over there somewhere, though."

Veronica bit her lip. "Are you feeling okay, Walter?" she asked, afraid she might know what his answer was going to be.

Arthur looked around at this second mention of Walter. Still no sign of his uppity little butler, though.

"I'm feeling fresh as a daisy, dear. Which is too bad, since I'd like to be getting dirty. Are you busy?"

Archie wrapped an arm protectively around Veronica. "I should think that was fairly obvious," he said, leveling an even more curious glance at Walter, though there was no hostility in his tone. Yet.

Okay, Veronica was pretty sure that Walter was under the influence of something, but she wasn't putting up with that from anyone. She reached into her purse and pulled out her taser.

"I don't know what your deal is, Dornez, but back off now," she said, holding it up.

Arthur's smile went down a few watts while he looked around, but his funsucker-for-hire was nowhere to be seen.

"Why do people keep bringing him up? He's not here to tell me that the wine and women bill is pushing us in the red. Let's just enjoy the day and your youth."

Well, that confirmed that Walter definitely thought he was someone else. Maybe a nice, low shock from Mr. Taser would wake him up.

It might not have woken him up, but it did knock him down.

When he could finally speak again, he gave the girl a dire look. "What in blue hell was that?" And why hadn't Alucard come to protect him?

Archie grinned, kissed Veronica on the cheek, and smirked at Walter. "That is what happens when you push your boundaries with my girlfriend, Walter."

Arthur tried to push himself upright, but felt as though he'd had a bottle too many of his favorite whiskey, without the good part of being drunk.

"Walter, as we have already determined, is not here. And last I checked, he wasn't interested in pushing anyone's girlfriend's boundaries. So unless he's off shagging your boyfriend, we can leave the boy out of it."

He gave the girl another cautious leer and managed to stand. "No would have sufficed."
