Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #3

"Hello!" Jarod waved to the gathered students. The bandage was gone from his head, but the stitches were still visible. "Today we'll be learning about how to keep a secret, and I mean a real secret here, one that someone's life is depending on, by telling the truth."

"The kicker here is that someone will be asking you questions, trying to find out what the secret is. It's your job to answer their questions as completely as possible, but to still keep that secret. Then you'll switch. You'll each pick a secret of your own, and write it down on a piece of paper before you start. Then, your partner will write down what they think the secret is when they're finished, and show it to you. I'm trusting you to tell them if they got it right."

"Also, please feel free to have some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels," he gestured at the table behind him.

[ooc: No Jarod until 6 pm EST, pair up and have fun!]

Parker was desperately trying to come up with a secret that wasn't a big deal if someone figured it out. Fabulous. Trust Jarod to make a workshop assignment come with angst.

Ranma approaches someone he hasn't really talked to before. That way he can use his girl secret easily. Whew. He scribbles down the fact that he can change into a girl. And I mean actually scribbled. Because his handwriting is awful. Talking to girls was always hard for him.. He tries to speak up as he speaks. "Want to be my partner?"

Parker blinks, surprised that yes, there's *still* someone she hasn't met yet. "Sure. I'm Parker. And you are?"

She quickly writes down, I had a twin brother and then folds it up. "Do you want to start?"

"I'm Ranma Saotome.General idiot and all around fuck-up. Nice to meet you." He's nervous around girls... he hopes this doesn't jitter him into blabing the secret right away... "Well sure. I'll just ask you questions then right?"

Parker quirks a smile at him, eyes dancing. "Nice to meet you too, Ranma. And certainly, go right ahead." She focuses all of her attention on him, hoping to keep him off-balance.

Ack she's staring at him... he can't help but blush a bit. "So where are you from...?"

"Blue Cove, Delaware," Parker said promptly. She leaned her chin on one hand. "But I've lived in Tokyo, Rome, and New York City for extended periods of time."

"Why did you move a lot?"

"Home was always Blue Cove, but my father took me along on his business trips. Sometimes we were there long enough for me to go to school there, or spend a summer off in those places." She smiled sweetly. "Where are you from? I won't count it in on my interrogation."

"Japan mostly. I speak Japanese at least." He smiles politely. "Well how about your... um... family? Did you dad take anyone else?"

"Ohh, lovely. //It's been a while, and Miho only speaks Japanese when she's annoyed with me. I haven't seen Sakurazaki in weeks,//" Parker said in nearly-perfect Japanese, smiling sunnily at him. "Sometimes. When I was younger. Is this your first time in America?"

//Yeah. 's my first time. Ya know Setsuna huh? We talk in Japanese. When ain't in fight or anythin'. Don't worry 'bout your Japanese or nothin'. Mine's bad too.// He wasn't raised to be a man of many words... So his Japanese is pleanty unrefined.

"Domo arigato." Parker gives him a wide-eyed, expectant look, filing all that away for later. "You were going to ask me another question."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah... Sorry. Well... why did you come here?" Setsuna talk always distracts him. He looks embarassed.

Re: Class Assignment

"For a first class education, and the opportunity to be close to Blue Cove," Parker said promptly. It might sound rehearsed, but it's still true. Ranma really has no idea how to do this, poor guy. "Of course, my father had no idea about the vampires and snow monsters. But I still think it's been valuable."

"So um... do you you know your mother at all?" He feels awkward asking personal questions to a stranger mostly.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Parker blinked at that one, surprised at the shot in the dark, and said, "Yes. Do you?"

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
"No. My dad took me away from home when I was like... 3. I just thought you didn't becasue you were talking about your dad a lot. You like both your parents?" How in the world is he suposed to find this secret. He had no idea what it might be. He was just looking for sometihng from her past because secrets commonly were from then.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I love them both." Parker paused. "Even though my mother died when I was nine." Maybe that would cut off that avenue of speculation? Well, she could hope. "Do you mind if I ask about your secret now? You can keep interrogating me as well, of course."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"That's fine. Yeah. I don't mind." He nods, he's starting to feel really intrusive and he doesn't like it. He'd be glad for the break.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmmm. Give me a second." Parker made sure to wait long enough for him to relax a little, then asked, "Have you had your secret a long time, or did it come about just recently? For instance, since you came here to Fandom."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Well it's not been too long... I had it before I came here though..." Ohhh... yes. Questions like that would probably have been much more effective... He wants to kick himself for looking idiotic. Not like he doesn't usually...

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Ahh. So, is it a fun secret? Do you get a lot of enjoyment out of it? Or is it just a run-of-the-mill, don't-wanna-share secret?" Parker paused, and added, "And if it's a really harsh secret, you can choose another one. Seriously."

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't call it... fun. It's... odd. Maybe... "harsh" but I don't mid telling people anymore. I'm trying to make it less of a secret." Unforntunately he was honestly getting used to it.

Re: Class Assignment

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"So, it's something personal to you, then? Not about something in your past, or a family member?" Parker cocked her head, smiling. "I admire you for trying to be more open, by the way."
