Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #3

"Hello!" Jarod waved to the gathered students. The bandage was gone from his head, but the stitches were still visible. "Today we'll be learning about how to keep a secret, and I mean a real secret here, one that someone's life is depending on, by telling the truth."

"The kicker here is that someone will be asking you questions, trying to find out what the secret is. It's your job to answer their questions as completely as possible, but to still keep that secret. Then you'll switch. You'll each pick a secret of your own, and write it down on a piece of paper before you start. Then, your partner will write down what they think the secret is when they're finished, and show it to you. I'm trusting you to tell them if they got it right."

"Also, please feel free to have some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels," he gestured at the table behind him.

"Most curses are. I try to... ignore it. Sorry about your friend. I have one like that." John Connor he wants to say. Ugh that guy... "Family huh...Is it about your parents?"

"No." She paused, thinking. "No. And I try to stay as far away from magic as I can, not being able to work it at all. The most I've done is make sand move a micrometer with my mind. And I still think Bridge might have been helping."

"Oh and I'm not very fond of magic or anything either. Curses and things like that aren't good to me you know?" He recalls two other curses of sorts that effect him and tries to smile. Turning into a cat and having hair that grows endlessly are relatively harmless. But certainly inconvinent. "So... someone else in your family... then is it some relative... like.... a grandma or aunt or something?"

"A relative, yes." She tilted her head, smiling. "Persistence is good in this. You're doing better, I think."

"Well.. hmm... is this person in your... what's that word...? Immediate family?" He's mostly good with English, at least much better than his slop of Japanese.

"Yes," Parker said quietly. "And I'm trying to deal with my secret the way you are. Just getting used to it. Telling people."

He nods. "Hey... If it upsets you I really don't want to intrude...I feel pretty bad asking so many questions of someone I don't know that well anyway." He really doesn't want to upset her in any way. He's not good at dealing with such things.

((ooc: Ranma-mun must escape the house. The air is thick with the headache-inducing smell of enamel paint. I'll be back later tonight. like 12 or so Central time. It's been such a nice conversation though. Thanks! Please let me compliment you on your awesomeness! Later!))

"It doesn't upset me, so much as makes me think of other things that do. And I have to get used to it, so. FIre away." She smiled slightly. "Hey, you told me about your transgendering under water; it's the least I can do."

"So is it a sibling then?" He tries to speak gently.

"Yes." Parker swallowed, then smiled, very slightly. "I think I should just say it, now. I had a twin. A brother."

Ranma feels terrible for the sad sound in her voice, he doesn't really know what to say that wouldn't upset her further. "You don't have to say anymore okay?"

Parker's relief was practically tangible. "Thanks. I couldn't think of another secret that I could tell. Sad, hunh?" She smiled lightly. "So. That was... interesting."

"Nothing wrong with keeping very few secrets." Honest. He knows he keeps a few. And Setsuna keeps too many.

"As long as they don't go toxic." Her smile was more genuine. "Or require too much effort to keep."

"You can't imagine how annoying this was when it rained." He chuckles a bit, trying to keep her mind off her troubles and perhaps cheer her up.

Parker grinned. "Yay for umbrellas, then. How long before you're a guy again? Or do you need to go take a shower now? "

"Soon as I get some hot water I'll change back." He feels a bit embarassed by the concern. "Don't worry about me, I'm used to it."
