Summer Picnic, Main Campfire, Friday afternoon

At lunchtime, the campfire area was set up with blankets, baskets, picnic tables, food, and ant problems. The groundskeeper who brought the ants was later sent home for the rest of the day. It turned out that he didn't really like picnics.

[OOC: I suck and completely forgot about this. Sorry about the relative lateness. It's a sunny and fairly comfortable day. I MOD WEATHER! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!]

"You get used to it," Willow admitted. Then she looked proud. "I got to help. Not so much with the bomb as that was more Buffy and Xander and Angel, but I stole important pages from the books of Ascension when I got kidnapped.

"Even when you're kidnapped, you're still looking for books?" Peter asked grinning. "I really have to admire that."

"I'm a tough cookie," Willow replied. She tried to look wordly and smug. "Comes from being the greatest swordswoman in the world."

"Or you just can't resist books no matter what the circumstances are," Peter teased.

"They're just so interesting!" Willow replied with a grin. "But in my case it was all part of killing some vampires, standing up to a rogue Slayer, and helping to save the day."

Yes she was totally bragging now.

Which Peter was happy about as he'd more than encouraged it.

"I'd expect nothing less from she who hold the Greatest Swordswoman title," Peter said. "Helping to save the day is a major part of your job description."

"It's a tough job, but it comes with some pretty great benefits," Willow said, wrinkling her nose at him.

"Well, there's the sword," Peter told her. Because that was enough for him.

Willow gave a pout. "I don't own one."

"Not like that couldn't be fixed," Peter said with a smile.

"Possibly," Willow said, though she hadn't given that much thought. "But that does mean that when I speak of benefits we must remove swords from the list of possiblities of what I'm referring to in the here and the now."

"The title then?" Peter suggested.

"It's a very nice title," Willow agreed, "but on the other hand that's more of a job description than a benefit."

"I can't imagine what the benefits would be then other than sore arms after practicing," Peter said.

"That's why I'm the smarter of us two," Willow replied with a grin.

"And yet earlier, you weren't sure about rhyming vocabulary tests," Peter laughed. "So tell me about the benefits of being the greatest swordswoman in the world?"

"I passed yours, didn't I?" Willow replied. "And there might be a benefit in the company. Might. The jury is undecided."

"You don't think Setsuna's company is a benefit?" Peter asked, grinning. "She's be sad to hear that, I think."

"I like Setsuna's company very much," Willow said. "But she is a friend, not a benefit."

"Do you have anything going on tomorrow? I could give you a lesson ~~not that we'll be so inclined~~, if you'd like," Peter offered. "You could decide if the company is fitting."

Willow shook her head. "Nope. No plans. What shall we practice? More with footwork and falling?"

"Perhaps some more strikes and counters?" Peter said. "We could start getting you ready to work through forms." He grinned. "And once you felt comfortable with that, you could theoretically try using an actual blade for the forms so you get used to the different balance."

"Actual blade? I'm moving up in the swordy world," Willow said, proud of herself.

"We'll need to get you comfortable with some basic forms first," Peter said with a nod. "And work on your balance." He paused. "If you truly do want to keep working with the weapons, you'll need to learn a stretching routine and keep up with it. I...err...asked Setsuna if she'd show you that though I'd do so if you'd prefer."

"Okay," Willow said, though she was oblivious to why they'd need Setsuna. "It's nice of her to offer to help."
