"Morning, dudes! Today's my last day, and it's detention, and that's..." Ted trailed off in thought. "Actually, that's pretty much like when I was in high school. Anyway, war is hell and so is detention. So today, each of you dudes will face off with a most heinous spawn of Hell and you'll have to escape and/or defeat the bad dude. Okay? Excellent!"

There were five doors in front of them. Each door was a different color and had the student's name on it. "You can take in whatever you've got on you, but weapons and magic won't do any good. They're just hologrammy things. Step up, dudes. Oh, and at the end? You all get Twinkies."

"You know," Ted said thoughtfully as he directed Hermione to the brown door. "I've never gotten out of this one on my own."

As soon as Hermione stepped up, the door slid open to allow her entry. Once she was inside, it would close behind her and leave her in a huge library. A scary, cranky librarian spotted Hermione and pointed at her. "You! Give back that library book!"

Oh no! The librarian thinks that Hermione hasn't returned a library book and she looks MAD!

Hermione startles a bit. "I'm sorry, ma'am," she stammers, "I've never been in this library before. I'm sure I would remember."

The librarian pulled out a wanted poster with Hermione's name and face on it. The bounty on her was a total of $50. "You can't fool me! I know it's you. Give that book back this instant!"

The librarian vaulted over the counter with one hand, the other still carrying the poster. If Hermione looked close enough, she would see that the poster had her wanted for the return of an edition of Little Red Riding Hood.

"It wasn't me," she insists, peering at the poster. "I haven't read that book since I was five!"

"That's how long it's been since you borrowed it out! And you haven't returned it! You wouldn't believe the overdue fees!" The librarian stalked towards Hermione. "Now cough it up, young missy!"

"I don't have it," she says, trying to stay very calm. "It was bought for me, not taken out of a library, so I would have no reason to have had that book!"

"Really?" the librarian asked in a moment of weakness. Then she got cranky again. "The poster doesn't lie! Maybe you got it out from the library to compare between the two editions? Maybe you're lying to me. Lying to a librarian! Why, I ought to call the authorities! Surely that's a heinous crime."

"I wouldn't lie," says Hermione. "I'm really very bad at it. It must have been a mistake."

"First you lie and now you insult my database!" The librarian's nostrils flared. I wouldn't get too close if I were you. "Come here at once! You must stand trial for your crimes!"

"I didn't do anything wrong," she says, staying put. "I didn't lie, and I'm not insulting anything. Sometimes mistakes happen. But I didn't do anything wrong and it isn't fair to punish me for that."

"Prove it!"

"What date was the book taken out of the library?" she asks.

"I don't have to answer your questions!" the librarian screeched. Oooh she doesn't seem to like her logic being called into question.

"It's only a question," Hermione says rationally. "You told me to prove it."

"You're a criminal! You don't get to ask questions! It's the law!"

If she was a real librarian, she should know that that's not true.

"No, it isn't," she says simply.

"What what whaaat?" the librarian spluttered, sounding very much like Kyle's mom. "How would you know, impotent little girl? I have half a mind to baninate you from this place forever, dude!"

"'Baninate' isn't a word," she says. "Did you just call me 'dude'?"

"What? No! Yes. It's in the dictiopedia!"

"There's no such thing as a dictiopedia," she says. "You're not a very good librarian."

"So what if I'm not? What business is it of yours?"

"Well, you're trying to punish me for something I didn't do. I think that makes it my business, if you don't know your job."

"Gah!" the librarian hissed at Hermione and stalked off into the stacks.

The library disappeared and Ted stepped inside. "Excellent! Never let a librarian push you around. They don't know as much as they say they do."

"Oh," she says though she's not sure many real librarians would agree with that. "Thank you."
