Danger Shop - Detention [6/24]

As the students enter, the Danger Shop appears to be a mostly empty room with a half circle of chairs in the middle.

The focal point of the half circle is a large white board which has a list of names on one half. The other half is covered at the moment.

Belthazor
Marie D'Ancanto
Timothy Desmond
Walter Dornez
Tyler Durden
Kaylee Fry
Phoebe Halliwell
Charles Kawalsky
Jamie Madrox
Setsuna Sakurazaki
Nadia Santos
Stark

Once everyone has arrived, Veronica begins briefing them.

"I don't know what you guys did to earn detention today and frankly, I don't care. Today we're going to solve a mystery and you're going to put someone else's well being before for your own."

She uncovers the other half of the board, which has a list of information about a missing girl, including a physical description.

"The girls' parents believe she has run off with her boyfriend and don't want to involve the authorities. It's your job to find her."

Tyler started by looking inside of her closet.

There were a lot of shoes. None of them was secretly a shoe-phone or anything.

He stood on his tiptoes to reach the top shelf and found a photo album. There were a lot of pictures of what he guessed was the girl -- smiling, with her family, with friends, at the pool in summer, ice-skating in winter.

There were also a lot of photos of one guy. "Veronica? Is this a suspect?"

"Sometimes people lable photos on the back," Tyler said hopefully.

He pulled out what looked like a portrait from a formal dance. "Dick and Madison, Homecoming '05," he read. "I'm hoping the girl isn't Dick."

The seven Jamies started searching through the room.

One of them seems particularly interested in her underwear drawer where he pulls out some cheesy looking valentine card.

One of the dupes also finds her school bag with a notebook inside where on the cover it is written "I <3 Dick!"

One of the dupes reads the cover and giggles like a school girl.

One of the Jamies glares at the giggling Jamie.

"Dude. Not funny."

"Maybe a little but still. Missing girl."

Stark started with the closet. It seemed like a good place to hide things. Nothing obvious on the floor, or on the closet doors, so he started looking at the clothes. After going through a few jacket pockets and finding nothing of interest except a few dollars, he found one with a folded up piece of paper. It looked like a print-out of an email from a few weeks ago.

When the rest of the clothes in the closet didn't turn up anything else useful, he turned his attention to the top of the dresser, which was covered in stuff as all dressers should be. Conveniently, there was another email printed out, from the same person as the first one. And there was a Polaroid shot with "Me and Dick! <3!" written underneath it as well, though that was hidden inside a jewelry box.

"Dick Casablancas?" Stark asked himself. It was the first name that had popped up more than once, so far, so he was just going to go with it.

Walter pulled her dresser drawers out entirely to search the inside of the dresser. People think they're clever hiding things that way.

Duct taped to the underside of the dresser top was a packet of photographs labeled "Me and Dick at the Boardwalk." That gave him a first name and a face. The next thing was to find a last name.

He hunted around and found a school yearbook on a shelf along with a large collection of fuzzy stuffed animals. He started flipping through it looking for Dick. Bingo.

"Dick Casablancas. Sounds like a start."

Nadia peered blearily around the room. After her conversation with Anders last night, she hadn't been able to fall asleep for awhile, and thus was very, very tired.

She wandered over to the bookcase and lazily scanned the titles while she tried to figure out where to look.

It was the usual fare of melodramatic teenaged girl romanaces, plus a scattering of school type books--okay, wait a minute. Nadia looked over the titles again. Sure enough, there were two copies of a particular grammar guide in hardcover. Now what kind of girl other than the mun who has three identical copies of Strunk and White had more than one copy of the same grammar guide in her bookshelf?

One had a dustcover, the other didn't. She grabbed the dustcovered one and opened it.

Jackpot. The girl had used the cover of the book to camoflage her diary. A few moments later, she had a name.

"Wow. That guy just sounds like a winner."

Kaylee looked around the room for places where a teenaged girl would hide things. She decided to search the closet first.

She found a dusty shoebox on the closet shelf. Kaylee opened it and found pictures of the girl and possibly her boyfriend. She had a face, now she needed a name. So she continued looking through the box until she found notes the girl and her boyfriend likely passed to each other in class. On one of the notes, the girl wrote "I *heart* you, Dick Casablancas."

Kaylee made a face and wondered why anyone would be in love with the guy in the picture. He kinda seemed like a loser.

zoom oh my god, sorry for the late

Tim was lost. He'd never had a bedroom in which to hide things, and he didn't have a sister that would hide things from him.

okay, go with what you know. Where's mom hide your christmas present?

Tim frowned thoughtfully. the bathroom. No, not last year, the year before that. The oven? *sigh*

Okay the year before that then. He went to the closet and pushed the clothes aside. There were a few innococous boxes, which yeilded a fake passport fake Wanted Poster, the kind you get at novelty photo places.

WANTED: RICHARD CASSABLANCAS

Perfect.
