Artie awaited his campers in the main campfire area as usual.

Well, almost as usual. Today he was wearing a football helmet and seemed to have stuck a playground ball up his shirt.

It’s best not to ask, really.

“Welcome, campers! I hope all of you had a very pipe week. I know I have. The weather seems to have become Dada in our honor! And tasty! I’m sure you all have your own Dada stories to tell today, as well!”

Once the reporting on their days of Dada was done, Artie pulled the ball from beneath his shirt and bounced it on his head a few times. “Some of you know that I ran detention this weekend. We had a very successful game of dodgeball, there. So successful that I have decided that today, we are going to play our own game! Dada dodgeball!”

The field was nicely clear of kittens, butterflies, and pudding. There are six five-gallon buckets and twine, creating a rectangular playing field divided down the middle.

“These are your rules!” Artie held up a piece of paper with the words “rules for dodgeball” written on it in bright, friendly letters. Then he ripped it apart. “Have fun!”

At some point during the game of Dada dodgeball, Nadia came over to have a few words with Artie.

"Mr. Strongest Man in the World," she said politely, because she didn't want an extra week of detention. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"But of course!" Artie struck a heroic pose, since his workshop campers were doing quite well at Dada dodgeball so far. "How may I be of service?"

"It's about your assignment for your workshop this week. . . ."

"Yeeeees. . . ."

Nadia was rather nervous. "It's just that . . . as someone who isn't in the workshop . . . it really worried me."

"Worried? How so?"

"I didn't know what was wrong with them! My roommate and my boyfriend started acting really crazy on the same day, eating tires and searching for 'it' and I really thought they were possessed, and that's bad!"

"And which two campers were these?"

"Walter and Jamie," Nadia said, wondering why he was asking for--"Wait, I'm not here to get them in trouble!"

"Ah, yes! The Jamies and Fishgrenade are quite skilled at Dada!" Artie grinned. "What did you do when they acted strangely?"

Nadia frowned. "I followed Walter around. And Pippi threatened to hit him with a chair."

"And other people? What did they do?"

Nadia was getting confused. "Um, well, I think Jude might have actually decided to make some raspberry soup. And GOB told Jamie to lay off the drugs."

"Wonderful!" Were Artie the sort to give grades, both Jamie and Walter would receive Chair-pluses for their days in Dada.

One of the Jamies who was out took a break from the game and waved at Nadia.

"Hey. Everything okay?"

"Fine, I'm just here to talk to Artie."

"I mean with you. You weren't in the room last night. I just wanted to make sure that there was no possession stuff going on or anything."

"Oh, right, that." Nadia blushed. "Yeah, Walter's roommate is out of town this weekend. I sort of spent the night in his room."

Jamie coughed a little with embarassment. "Sorry. Just wanted to make sure you're okay. You don't need to provide any more details."

"I didn't mean to worry you," Nadia raised an eyebrow. "Should I be starting a 'notify when not dead' list?"

"Nah, you don't need to check in with me or anything," Jamie said. "But if I don't hear from you in 24 hours I will look around for you and check in. I know you can take care of yourself and all, I just don't want that girl with a taser tracking me down."

Nadia smiled. "Veronica can get scary sometimes. Okay, I promise if I have plans to go missing for more than 24 hours, I'll try to warn you, first."

Walter waited for Nadia to finish talking to Artie and waved to her, covered in thousand island dressing.

Then he went back to the serious business of Dada dodgeball.

Nadia shook her head at him with a shrug.

He was going to need another shower.
