Rory managed to make it into the library fairly early, dragging the damn book with her as well as her laptop, with a cup of coffee in hand and four wide-eyed, fluffy kittens firmly attached to the legs of her jeans.

The library was open, and would likely remain so for most of the day.

A Jamie lifts up an old dusty reference book. "I've got it!"

He lays the book out for everyone to see.

"It's this Pharoah dude who was only in power for a short amount of time by the name of Tuten Fratuten. He ordered the closing of the first coffee shop in Egypt that featured an ancient type of pudding because he believed his cats and pet scorpion were allergic to it. The slaves revolted by throwing butterfly cocoons at the palace and later the Pharoah was killed by being force fed a poisonous frog."

Hermione blinks, and goes back to her research.

Jamie gives Hermione a look. "What?"

Dawn stared at him. "Please tell me you're kidding."

"Look for yourself. Isn't that the car douche?" Jamie said pointing to it.

"I was about to ask if maybe you'd grabbed a Mazes & Monsters manual by mistake," Xander said, forwning. "Now I'm not sure I wanna know what you've got. There's better porn in Special Collections, dude."

"You went into Special Collections for the porn?" Dawn asked, comparing the cartouche with her notes. "Why didn't you just go to the store and buy it? Seems like it would be much less lethal."

"Oh, and it looks right, Jamie. Congrats, you get the last jelly doughnut."

Someday, Xander will look back on having this conversation with Dawn, and cringe. But not now. Well, not any more than any normal guy blustering his way through a conversation about porn that he hadn't really meant to have with a sixteen year old girl. "In retrospect, you're not without pointage. But I did mention better right? There's this illustrated manuscript where the letters are made of little people. That move."

Dawn blinked, eyes wide. "Really?"

"Really. Of course, there's also a dragon. And..." Xander frowned. "Possibly a bear, but maybe I'm getting that mixed up with something else."

"You were reading dragon and bear porn?" Dawn couldn't stop staring at Xander. "Why?"

Xander blinked. "No, there was an actual dragon. In the stacks."

"Oh," Dawn blinked away the visual image. A lot. "Did he talk or shoot fire?"

"Talked, mostly. And snored. But he was big enough that if he had been shooting fire, Logan and I would've been crispy critters."

~~Also it wasn't moving letters, woe, it was line drawings that moved. But give me/him a pass; it's been six months!~~

"Yowtch," Dawn winced. "Who's Logan?"

"Logan Echolls." Xander found himself describing a friend who wasn't here anymore for the second time, and it didn't get any less weird. "He graduated with me - threw kind of a margarita party in the second floor common room right before he left? I thought I saw you there, but you might not've actually talked to him; it got crowded."

"Maybe?" Dawn tried to remember but couldn't bring his face to mind. "He must be a good friend, if you can share porn." She facepalmed.

"Can we forget I said that, please?"

"Actually, he gave me a copy of--" Xander stopped. "We can totally forget you said that."

"You'll thank me someday."
