Library [06/08]

Rory managed to make it into the library fairly early, dragging the damn book with her as well as her laptop, with a cup of coffee in hand and four wide-eyed, fluffy kittens firmly attached to the legs of her jeans.

The library was open, and would likely remain so for most of the day.

As soon as he read Rory's e-mail, Xander headed to the library. Not that he knew what they needed help researching, or if they'd even need him with the number of brainacs they had around these days, but old habits die hard.

"Hey," he said with a wave. "What are we looking for and how did we not learn from my mistakes when we are very much smarter than I am?"

"I read a bad thing and so there are plagues," Rory said, because that was the succinct explanation. "We don't know how to make them go away or if it's going to get worse oh em gee."

She took a sip of the coffee that really, she shouldn't have had. It was her seventh cup. She was going on very minimal sleep. That might be why she was practically shaking.

Xander blinked, then nodded. "At least you didn't set anything on fire? ...yet?"

"That I know of," she nodded. "But I am responsible for these."

She plucked a kitten off her shoulder.

"Awwww--- I mean, bad, bad, Rory. You should be ashamed." Xander dangled his fingers in front of the kitten's nose.

One of the Jamies comes back with a ton of doughnuts from J,GOB's.

"Who wants a doughnut? I've brought plenty of glazed and jellies."

Xander grins, looking proud. "Well, my work here is done."

One of the many other Jamies looked up from the book he was reading with an annoyed expression. "What are you talking about? You just got here. And I want a Jelly."

"I passed on the knowledge of necessary research fuel to at least one of my students. I win at...something. Even if it means I just wrote myself into obsolence." Xander reached for a book. Pretty much any book, really, though ones that didn't do things when you read them out loud were high on his list.

"I brought doughnuts," Jamie said giving Xander a bizarre look. "I didn't become doughnut guy. Maybe I'm just doughnut guy in training."

"Yeah, okay, maybe I won't pass over the ceremonial Long-John just yet," Xander said, waving his hand. "But it's nice to know people actually listened."

Dawn waved to Xander and offered him a book. "Egypt stuff."

Xander accepted it, flipping to the table of contents. "Ah, a specific topic. I love those."

"So far, we don't think it's an apocalypse," Dawn said, sounding hopeful. "And there doesn't seem to be a prophecy, so yay."
