"Hello." Jon sighed. "I will freely admit this is another instance of 'the moose decides Mr. Sims needs to teach something ridiculous'. At least it's not tea again. I suppose I'll be getting together focusing techniques and such in the future, but conveniently, the first day is generally for introductions, and since we're the first class, you can't even have gotten sick of them yet."

He gestured. "So, just in case you don't know each other, let's do introductions. I am Jonathan Sims, he/him. I am from England in the present day. I've been teaching here for a few years, and generally enjoying it despite the moose's best attempts. Now you." He gestured at the first student.

Such as it is. Wonder if the moose hates Jon.

Introduce yourself! Name, pronouns, a little bit about who you are and where/when you're from, and maybe why you're in the class.

Henry had not brought Mutt to class. Everyone should likely be thankful for it.

"I'm Henry of Skalitz," he said. "And, er, pronouns? He-him, I suppose?"

He was a bit confused what those had to do with anything, but he'd learned by now to just roll with these things and assume they had some kind of significance. "I'm from Skalitz, obviously. In Bohemia." Pause. "1403. As for why I'm in the class, I have no idea."

You can't sit still for more than an hour at a time--

"Hello, Henry." Jon nodded. "These days people may introduce themselves with pronouns because not everybody uses the ones you might expect, and saying which ones you prefer keeps others from having to ask," he explained.

"And that makes two of us," he said with a grimace. "I've no idea why I'm here, either. Perhaps we could gang up on the moose and ask."

That was probably a bad idea. That had never stopped Jon before.

"Right, the moose," Henry said, nodding. "... Y'think he's really a moose or he's just a man pretending to be one?"

"If he's a man pretending, he's quite committed to the act and his costume is impeccable," Jon answered.

"...I'm pretty sure he's real," he said, just to be totally clear.

"I don't know why I still find that odd," Henry admitted. A pause. "... Odder than a man just bein' very dedicated to pretending to be a moose."

Yeah, he belonged in this class.

"I'm honestly not sure which would be odder," Jon admitted. "Although I suppose it wouldn't be far off from being a...a furry, perhaps."

He wasn't exactly sure how furries worked, but he didn't think they went around actually pretending to be giant non-anthropomorphic moose.

"What, you mean like-- someone who has a lot of back hair?"

1403, Jon. 1403.

But you'd been here for a while, Henry!

"Er...no." Jon thought of how to explain. He hesitated. "Honestly, you're probably best looking that up online if you're curious."

Definitely do not look it up online, Henry.

He'd been here for seven months and he'd been barely literate when he arrived. "Er," Henry said. "What's online?"

"Er." Jon blinked. "I assumed you had a phone. Most people get one first thing. If you need help, I'll do my best."

Jon, he was a medieval peasant, come now.

"Phones! I've seen those," Henry agreed. "They're very bright and the letters are very small, though, aren't they?"

"Generally, but you can adjust both of those," Jon said. "They're very useful to have in this time."

"So I've been told," Henry agreed.

The one phone he'd looked at for any long period of time made his head hurt and was nearly impossible for him to decipher, but he'd been told!

Jon wasn't going to make him have one! Some people didn't. Although admittedly, most of them were luddites rather than from far in the past. At least Henry had a reason.

"Also Henry," Henry spoke up. "Should be easy enough to tell us apart, especially since I use she/her pronouns. I'm from- Barcelona." She was not. "This time, more or less," she added, making a so-so motion with one hand. "I'm here because... why the fuck not, right?"

"As good a reason as any, really," Jon said. "I'm curious what Barcelona's like." Yes, Henry, he knew that wasn't the truth. He wasn't going to outright accuse you of lying, but he would give you a chance to change your answer.

She'd come to Fandom from Barcelona, so it wasn't a complete untruth. But she also knew perfectly well what Jon had meant with the question.

"Crowded," she shrugged. "Nice beaches, though. Good clubs. Great food."

"I've never been," Jon said. "Right about now, a sunny beach sounds lovely, though." Winter was terrible.

"I'm Arden Finch, she/her. I'm from North Carolina, first time leaving it was coming here two years ago. I'm from pretty close to the modern day; maybe just a few years off. As for why I'm here?" She shrugged. "Thought it sounded weirdly interesting."

"Hopefully we'll find a way to make it informative and interesting," Jon said. "I'll do my best, anyway."

He is, against his better judgement, here.

Hey, the squirrels get their own class! Sort of.
