Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that

"There's Caritas," Peter offered. "Though I don't think that's exactly what you're thinking of. They have a zombie band that's apparently held together with duct tape."

"But no dancing," Willow pointed out. She gave him a little smile. "We could still go if you wanted."

"But no dancing," Peter agreed. "I'd like to go with you one evening. And there shall be no singing."

"You'll definitely like going with me if there's no singing," Willow said. "Much more than if there was."

She may have moved just a tiny bit closer. You know, to make sure other people had room on the dance floor.

"I would like going with you no matter what. Singing or not," Peter said. "But I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable with the singing."

He may have held her the slightest bit closer as well. But not because the floor was crowded.

"I'm a horrible singer. There's panic, voice cracking. Once I even passed out. I can lip sync with the best of them, though. The point there being that there's no sound, so nobody has to pray for the end of the earth so they can stop listening to me, because actually they're listening to the CD, or the tape player, or the TV if that's what's being used at the time, not that MTV plays much music anymore - "

She might have been babbling a little from nerves, but they were the good kind.

Peter waited out the flood of words with a small affectionate smile.

Willow finally wound down when she realized Peter probably did not want to hear her talk about singing along to 'Shake Your Love' back when she was younger. "Um. So. Yeah. Caritas would be fun."

"Maybe next week then?" Peter asked.

"I'd love to," she said.

"Me too," Peter said with a smile. "We'll see the zombies and hope that Aeryn's not bartending."

"Why wouldn't we want Aeryn to bartend?" Willow asked.

"She throws drinks at people," Peter said. "Seems like a waste of a drink and clothes."

"We'll bring umbrellas," Willow said. Because suggesting they deal with that potential by wearing rubber clothes was way too kinky for her to even contemplate.

"We could get little paper umbrellas in our drinks and use them to defend ourselves," Peter suggested.

"As a knight, wouldn't you prefer one of those plastic swords?"

"There are plastic swords?" Peter asked with glee. "Really? I didn't know that before."

"Oh yes," Willow said, thrilled to be teaching him something new. "They're small, so mostly useful for spearing pieces of fruit. But I'd imagine they're more weapon-appropriate than the umbrellas."

"That makes sense," Peter replied. "We'll get you an umbrella to protect your clothes, and I'll find a more weapon-appropriate plastic sword."

Peter may have taken advantage of the joking to hold Willow the slightest bit closer.

"I could use a sword if I wanted. Not well or with any kind of skill, but I know which is the pointy end."

Willow's breath might have caught a little when he did that.

"As long as you put the pointy end into the other man, you'll be fine," Peter said with a grin.

He instantly moved back the same slightest bit, assuming he had overstepped.

"Or woman," Willow said. Her disappointment at the sudden distance was obvious.

"Or woman," Peter repeated obediently. "I promise I'll get that right one time if you keep reminding me."

He mentally cursed himself for assuming incorrectly.

"I'd be happy to remind you," Willow said, a little nervous now since he'd pulled back. "If you want me to?"

"I very much do," Peter said with a smile. "If you'd be so kind." He wasn't entirely sure how to make it right so he pulled Willow a degree or two closer again as they danced into the next measure.
