Applied Dadaism: Fun and Games (Main campfire, Friday morning)

Artie was seated on thin air at a folding card table when the campers arrived. Once they all were gathered, he gestured for them to sit down at any of the three tables set up (they, at least, had actual chairs).

"Welcome back, campers! I hope you all have had a pipe weekend! I know I have! Today we are going to continue with our Dada games. I hope all of you have been thinking of some rules for your own games that you will present at the end of the session!"

He bounded to his feet. "But first! Introduce yourselves again! Only this time, use a Dada name. For example, today I will be Squeeeeeeebadadoopboing!"

Once the introductions were done with, Artie laid out some cards on the tables. "Today, we will play poker! But not just any poker, oh no, Dada poker. Dada poker is like Dada rock, paper, scissors. Any hand can win, as long as you can tell us why. Be creative! If you have three clubs, maybe your three clubs can bludgeon your opponents three kings! It's up to you.

"For next time, I have an assignment for you. Pick one day this week. You will spend that day being Dada, in everything you do. Perhaps spend the whole day saying nothing but the word 'dreeble'. Perhaps try to wrestle a slab of bacon. Make people ask you what you are doing! Make them think you are weird. Don't tell them; just let them wonder! Next week, you will tell us about your Dada day!"

[ooc: yeah, shorter than last time. Just be glad I'm not making you sit through Artie reciting phonetic poetry. Waaaaaaaait for the OCD, friends! Got any knaves? No? Okay, how about twos? Go fish!]

I'm too lazy to group you guys together! Pick a table! Pick your cards!

These are Dada decks, and thus, along with normal playing cards, there are novelty cards, Chez Geek cards, Tarot cards, business cards, flash cards, whatever the heck kind of cards you want. Mod away.

Artie may join one of the tables and play with you.

Tyler set Popeye down on the table before taking a hand of cards. He looked weary, but well-cuddled. "Hey, Jamie," he said. "How were your friends last night?"

As he spoke, he turned over his cards: a seven of spades, the cartoon old maid from a children's card game, a completely blank card, the tarot card of death, and a "Happy Grandparent's Day" card with a cat on it.

Popeye seemed very interested in the picture of the cat.

"Fairly active. They finally fell asleep around three this morning," Jamie said pointing to a bulging pocket in his trenchcoat where quiet snoring sounds appear to be coming from. "What about yours?"

Jamie reveals his hand.

"I win because I'm a King and it's apparently my birthday. No one can lose a hand of Dada poker on their birthday."

"Once I let him sleep on the pillow, he was happy," Tyler sighed. "And no, I win 'cause I have death, so I can kill you. All of you. Even on your birthday."

Tyler? Not exactly a ray of sunshine.

"Nuh-Uh. I have the heirophant. He knows the secrets of life beyond death so he saves my king. On my birthday," Jamie argues weakly.

Tyler thought about it. "But I have the old maid. she nags the heirophant until he runs away screaming, so the king still dies. On your birthday."

He crooked an eyebrow. "Is this your actual birthday or something?"

Walter sat down to play Dada solitaire with himself.

That involved waiting for someone else to play it with.

His cards included a French postcard he was fairly certain he'd once seen in Arthur's collection, a two of hearts, a novelty card of a man being pushed into a lake by a goat, a card with a goldfish on it, and the two of pentacles.

Ooh, a pair.

Tim decided to try an experiment. To see if he could get away with it manage to play two poker games at once. He set a chair down between Walter's table and River's Table.

"My cards don't know what they are. Or maybe they're nothing. If they're nothing, they don't exist. And if they don't exist, they can't be beaten. I think."

"Are you sure? Maybe if they don't exist I can make up my cards and then I can win because I can have whatever I want?" Stark didn't sound very sure of himself, but thought it was worth a try anyway.
