Summer Shenanigans [Wednesday mid-morning]

When the poor schmucks Fandom arrived in the park on Wednesday, they would see four wooden rafts, big enough to each hold four people (or Muppets), bobbing on the pond. In the center of each raft was a metal bucket full of objects. Some were balloon-shaped, some were ball-shaped, others were clearly shoes. One looked suspiciously like Intern Porg.

(Do not throw Intern Porg.)

"We're doing a balloon-ish toss!" Anakin announced. "Pick an object, toss it to your teammate on the next raft over. Do not miss or break the object! Fastest team to get all the way around the circuit wins."

He grinned. "Powers may be used today, and there are plenty of objects in the buckets. No one says you have to only toss things at your own teammates."

Sometimes Anakin just liked to watch the world burn.

"Listen for your names!"

"Well, this is a whole new side to you," Steph teased.

Vi grinned and oh so casually stretched, clearly with no ulterior motive. "One you like?"

"You know it," Steph replied as she bumped her shoulder against Vi. "It's hot as hell."

Vi, or the weather? Yes.

"Yeah, you are," Vi agreed, leaning against Steph in response. "Looks like we're not the same team though."

That they were going to be on the same raft was surely not going to affect whose team won.

"Yeah." Steph gave a very exaggerated sad shake of her head. "It's okay. I'm on team you all the rest of the time anyway."

Nah, it wasn't like they'd be too preoccupied trying to look out for each other to help their teams or anything. Pfft.

Or that either of them would feel any shame about distracting the other. Not even to help their team, just because they could.

"I suppose he had to try an make it fair by splitting us up, otherwise we'd just win."

You'd think the novelty of goofing off together at these things would have worn off by now but no.

"Pretty diabolical of him, pitting our competitive streaks against each other." Steph didn't exactly sound like she disapproved, though. Mostly.

"You want to make this interesting?"

Because that was exactly what this situation needed. Being made more interesting.

"You mean more than it already is?" Steph asked, raising her eyebrows in amusement.

Girls, please. This whole thing was already So Much.

Too Much, the narrative might say, not that they ever listened to it.

"Interesting for us," Vi clarified. "We're both winners, but one of us is going to win more today."

Sure, that was a perfectly valid way to say they were both going to lose, and one worse than the other.

"Oh, you want to bet something on it?" Steph asked, grinning.

The Intern Porg probably wanted to know why they were like this.

Everyone wanted to know why they were like this.

"Yeah," Vi said, with a very confident smirk. "To the winner goes the spoils and all."

Nobody was sure if they really wanted to know the answer, though.

"Deal," Steph said, matching that smirk with a cocky one of her own. "You are so on. What're the stakes?"

It'd have to remain one of life's great mysteries.

"Well, I was thinking..." Vi leaned over to whisper something definitely not comm appropriate in Steph's ear.

Steph chuckled and reached up to cup a hand around the back of Vi's neck. "Oh, I am a hundred percent in. Promise not to push me into the pond though?"

"Of course I promise," Vi replied smoothly, like she hadn't been planning on doing exactly that.

"It's all muddy," Steph went on with an impish smile. "If I fell in I'd need a really good shower before anyone's collecting on any winnings."

Vi grinned back. "That's not necessarily a disincentive here."

"Oh, I know," Steph said, sounding as innocent as possible (which wasn't very). "That's why I have to ask."

Ask what? It was so convenient that she'd left that up to interpretation.

Extremely so.

"I'll keep that in mind," Vi said, biting her bottom lip thoughtfully.

"I appreciate your consideration," Steph told her. "Kiss for good luck before we're pitted against each other?"

"Always," Vi replied, leaning to steal a kiss.

"Meet you here afterward so one of us can collect on our winnings," Steph murmured into the kiss before giving Vi an affectionate pat on the bicep and stepping back.

Well. The actual collecting would not be happening here here, obviously.

They were not here to give even more of free show after all.

"I think you mean my winnings." Though really they were both going to win in the end.

It was already so much of an extravaganza as it was.

"Sure," Steph replied. "We can just say that."

Because nobody was really losing here, unless you asked Saffron.
