Summer Shenanigans [Wednesday mid-morning]

Anakin was surrounded by rubber chickens and harmonicas. Completely normal Wednesday, right? There were also t-shirts, blindfolds, and two pool noodles.

Anakin picked up his megaphone. "We will be playing a modified version of tag! All but two of you will be wearing rubber chickens on your feet." As you do.

Anakin held up the rubber chicken. It squeaked menacingly. "Half of you will also have harmonicas in your mouths. Your goal is to remain silent so that the blindfolded swatters can not discover you and hit you with their pool noodle."

This seemed wholesome.

"Listen for your names and then come get your shirts!"

He smiled. "Kitty and Gladio, come retrieve your blindfolds and pool noodles. You're it."

And then he rattled off everyone else who was playing, and if they also got a harmonica in their mouths:

Since both of them were usually here to at least watch the shenanigans (even if they didn't always get the chance to explicitly ping in), Prompto knew he had Summer on standby to watch Noctra if he got called down.

Prompto was definitely wishing he'd left Noctra home with Liz this week, once things actually got started, but Summer was thrilled to have the opportunity to get Noctra to cheer excitedly every time Gladio managed to whack her dad but good with a pool noodle.

Surely, none of this would come back to haunt him later!

Liliana had done plenty of 'participating' yesterday (thank you, Thor darling, for the apology flowers), so if Anakin called her name, she intended to ignore him completely.

But she couldn't not come watch Ignis be ridiculous.

One shenanigan. Prompto got to rope them into one shenanigan per summer, and Gladio was definitely giving him an incredible side-eyed glare, completely with shaking head and grunt, before putting his blindfold on.

And being relatively convinced now that Anakin did do this specifically to cause people pain to give the guy known for hitting things really hard the position of hitting people.

Yeah, sure, it was just a pool noodle, but he might actually have to work to keep from doing actual damage!

Sam was somehow strapping rubber chickens to his felt eagle feet. As one does.

He devoutly hoped that Fozzie Bear was not going to witness this somehow.

If anyone actually told him what was on the surely hideous shirt he was to be wearing, too, he would surely find a new recipeh for rubber chicken raw to feed them, post haste.

"Oh, no," said Prompto, chuckling nervously once they did, indeed, all have their names called.

"Oh, no," he added, once they were given shirts and chickens and he specifically was given a harmonica.

"Oh, NO!" he concluded, once Gladio's name was specifically called to be it and he now felt that his shirt was going to include a big old pool noodle target on it.

"Please have mercy," he pleaded softly, before placing the harmonica in his mouth. "I have a wife and children."

He was hoping the most pitiful harmonica sound in the world that followed would pull at what little heart Gladio might have left.

Belle was not particularly fast nor particularly skilled at playing tag. Belle was certainly not skilled at walking while rubber chickens.

She was going to get tagged so fast. So fast.

If anyone was smart, they'd learn to stay away from Prompto, because Gladio was a blindfolded man on a mission.

Of course, everyone had squeaky feet and some people also had harmonicas, and Gladio was going to come out of this with a new respect for how good Ignis was at this whole 'tracking things without sight' thing, and eventually, he was going end up just targeting harmonica sounds without prejudice and hoping that he managed to get Prompto at least a few times out of it.

Gray was a master of stealth. It was kind of his thing. Could he pull it off under these conditions? He...very much had his doubts. Especially once he found out about the harmonica.

For one thing, how was he supposed to stop laughing?

Never mind -10 to stealth, this was more like an automatic crit fail every time. Maybe if Steph just snuck over to the side of the playing field and stood still it would work?

Not that she could help making the occasional noise on the harmonica, because she still, you know. Needed to breathe.
