Library, 5/29

It's a Monday. And a holiday. Work? Bah.

Yet here Tyler is, sitting behind the desk at the Fandom High Library paging through Slaughterhouse-5 Killingfloor-6. The library is open for business.

"I guess," Tyler said. "I started at the beginning of May. This is my first day of library duty."

He closed his book and set it aside.

"So you spend a lot of time here?"

"I've been here every day it's been open so far," she says, because anyone in a library probably won't judge her for that. "I'm Hermione."

Tyler gave her a blank stare. He was getting kind of sick of this story.

"Did you hear about an explosion in the third-floor common room?" he asked. "That was me. Apparently a week in the clinic wasn't enough punishment."

He glanced around guiltily. "Though it could be way worse."

Hermione may look a little surprised that anyone who works here could consider the library as punishment. She almost asks him to please not blow up the books, but doesn't. "It's a good library," she tells him. "You'll be fine."

"It seems like one," Tyler agreed. "They have everything Vonnegut ever wrote and a fantastic selection of medical books."

"It's mostly that I like reading about diseases," Tyler admitted. "I'm pretty healthy. Usually."

"Not exactly," Tyler said, then hesitated. "I haven't really thought that far ahead. But last year I spent some time in a place where all there were to read were these weird articles written about organs in the first person, "I am Joe's Colon," "I am Jane's Ovaries," stuff like that? Anyhow. I got really interested in them."

"Haven't decided yet," she says. "I wasn't supposed to take my O.W- my tests until this coming year, and I had just started looking into possible careers."
