It's a Monday. And a holiday. Work? Bah.

Yet here Tyler is, sitting behind the desk at the Fandom High Library paging through Slaughterhouse-5 Killingfloor-6. The library is open for business.

It's Monday, which means the library is open, which means Hermione is here. She gives a little smile to the person at the desk that she hasn't met yet.

Tyler nods a greeting to the girl. "Need help with anything?"

"No, thank you. I'm beginning to learn my way around," she says. "I haven't seen you here before, are you new?"

Dawn walked into the library, a bit surprised by the size, and headed over to the guy behind the desk. "Excuse me, but where is the preternatural book section?"

"I guess," Tyler said. "I started at the beginning of May. This is my first day of library duty."

He closed his book and set it aside.

"So you spend a lot of time here?"

A momentary look of panic crossed Tyler's face. "Is preternatural the same as supernatural?"

"Yes," Dawn nodded.

"I've been here every day it's been open so far," she says, because anyone in a library probably won't judge her for that. "I'm Hermione."

"Tyler," Tyler said. "I kind of got drafted into this. You might know it better than I do."

Tyler nodded and tapped at the keyboard. "I think most of what you can check out is on that shelf, to the left, though some stuff is scattered. Are you looking for anything in particular, or just everything weird?"

"Drafted how?" she wonders.

Tyler gave her a blank stare. He was getting kind of sick of this story.

"Did you hear about an explosion in the third-floor common room?" he asked. "That was me. Apparently a week in the clinic wasn't enough punishment."

He glanced around guiltily. "Though it could be way worse."

Dawn realized a bit belatedly that she was talking to one of the enemy. Better to keep things as vague as possible. "Um, just general Fandom weirdness."

"Ohkaaaay," Tyler drawled.

He pointed. "That shelf. And the actual books with spells are locked up, and I don't know how to get to them yet. You need to ask Rory."

"Oh, that's okay, I don't need spells," Dawn assured him, heading over to the shelf and beginning to browse through the titles, pulling interesting-looking books down from the shelves.

Hermione may look a little surprised that anyone who works here could consider the library as punishment. She almost asks him to please not blow up the books, but doesn't. "It's a good library," she tells him. "You'll be fine."

"You're new," Elizabeth said, glancing at him curiously as she entered the library.

Molly showed up not too long after that. "Sorry I'm late."

"No problem," Dawn turned, arms full of books. "I may have gotten carried away, but these should at least give us some ideas."

She set the books on a nearby table with a loud thump and sat down in a chair, opening the one that looked oldest. "Ready for a very, very boring day?"

Isabel came in smiling rather happily. "Hey guys..."

On Molly and Isabel's arrivals, Tyler twigged to the fact these were both meerkats, reading books about paranormal stuff, on his watch.

He prepared himself for an interesting day and started contemplating possible ways to get back at them. He still liked the Nair in the shampoo bottles idea.

"It seems like one," Tyler agreed. "They have everything Vonnegut ever wrote and a fantastic selection of medical books."

"I'm almost 16," Tyler said mock-indignantly. "But, yeah, it's my first day."

"I haven't been in that section yet," she says. "I don't usually have a need for it, but it can never hurt."

Elizabeth grinned. "Sorry; didn't mean to be rude. I guess I just got used to seeing the previous library attendants around," she said.
