Fandom Library, Wednesday, November 27th

There were turkeys in the Library today. Multiple turkeys. Singing turkeys. Singing turkeys with choreography.

Arden watched the madness in front of her with something akin to horrified fascination. She wasn't even nauseated by the mention of eating turkeys the way she'd normally be - too busy trying to figure out if she was having some kind of episode.

"Eat me!" a turkey warbled at her.

"...You know, I almost wish the gremlins were here instead," she muttered, putting a book in front of her face and trying not to look up again.

Except, sadly for Arden, this wasn't a performance. No, that was for tomorrow. This was their rehearsal.

Before the afternoon was over, she would come to dread the words, 'Let's take it from the top!'

"I've been very patient," Gray insisted. "Thanksgiving is so late this year," he complained, draping himself dramatically across a table where he thought he might be safe from turkey choreography. "It's completely unfair." Why wouldn't anyone think about Gray's needs?

"We can go whenever you're ready, I just need to book the portal." Last minute holiday travel? You were very lucky the narrative gods were smiling on you, Gray.

"No one will ever say no to more pie," Gray promised her. "And, uhhhhh, I don't know if I'll be here next year. I haven't decided if I'm doing the college thing yet." He wished he had a clearer timeline on how this whole fated mates/defeating Lucifer thing was going to go down...but being able to decorate his dorm room was a strong point in sticking around's favor. No way Alastair would let him do that at home, because Alastair knew that then Christmas would start encroaching on the rest of the house while Gray looked innocent and sleepy about it.

"Do you have to have a job for that?" Gray wondered. "I would...not do great at that." Just so much sleeping through his shift. "I guess I need to start looking into all that...after Christmas." Because all his energy would be dedicated to that for the foreseeable future.

On the one hand, falling asleep face-first into the red sauce was probably not health code compliant...on the other hand the island had a Starbucks run by gremlins. So.

"And New Year's is so far away! I dunno. We'll see. First we've gotta have Christmas...I hope nobody knocks over the tree again."

"Because my brothers are buttholes," Gray complained. "Bellamy and Castor got into it and started wrestling, and they fell into the tree. On Christmas Eve. I was gonna beat 'em up," sure, Gray, "but then I got sleepy, so I told Galen to do it, and then Alastair sent us all to our rooms to cool down. And then Raiden brought everyone cookies and we put the tree back up."

The end, except for the part where Castor spent most of the next several days frantically searching the internet for replacements for the ornaments that had gotten broken to try to get back in Gray's good graces. (You couldn't just buy a sexy reindeer merman anywhere, you know!)
