Chloe greeted each of the students as they ~~followed the handwavied instructions and~~ came into the Journalism classroom. Anyone who had been in here during the last semester might notice that all traces of Rita had been removed; the room had definitely become Chloe's domain.

"Good morning," she said brightly, distributing a syllabus to everyone. "Welcome to the writing workshop. For anyone I haven't met extensively yet, I'm Chloe Sullivan. Please, please call me Chloe, because any of that 'Ms. Sullivan' stuff is just going to remind me that I'm old and I have to leave this place at the end of the summer."

She gave everyone a smile and turned around to address them fully. "So, the basic idea of this workshop is to give you all a chance to experiment with different writing styles that are out there. We're going to start with non-fictional styles, and then move into some of the more entertaining fictional forms. I will warn you, I'm probably going to be doing some heavy pimping of the school newspaper, because it's kind of my baby, and it needs good people to take care of it next year. Those of you who were ~~my minions~~ part of the staff should know what I can get like." Chloe smirked.

"I figured the best way to start would be to talk about writing biographies," Chloe said, outlining a few of the characteristics of this style on the board. "This is also my sneaky way of making you all talk to each other on the first day. I've assigned each of you into a pair, and what I want you to do is get together with your partner, talk a little bit about yourselves, and then give me a minimum of 50 words on what you learned."

"Up to you."

She shook her head. "And I need to stop thinking as a journalist, since this isn't an interview, really. Um. You can go first. Where are you from, what's your family like, what do you like about Fandom, blah blah?"

"Okay," Kawalsky replied, thinking of where to start. "I was born in New York, moved around a lot because my Dad was in the Air Force. My Dad died a few years ago now and I'm not allowed to see my mom or sister because they think I'm dead, but as far as I know they're both okay where they are. I like the people in Fandom. Met a lot of cool people since I got here, you included. It's nice to have some friends whose lives are more normal than yours and some whose lives are weirder, y'know? Anything else?"

Rory blinked. "They think you're dead?"

He nodded. "I did die. And then all of a sudden I woke up in Fandom. It was weird. So now apparently they think I've been dead for a few years and I'm not allowed to see them again. It sucks, but I don't want to screw up their lives by showing up out of the blue. Maybe some day."

"That's...I'm sorry, Charlie," Rory said quietly. "And how weird is it that finding out that I'm talking to a supposedly dead guy doesn't even faze me anymore?"

He grinned. "Not dead anymore. 100% living, breathing guy, I promise. As for the family thing?" He shrugged. "It's for their own good. I'll find a way back one day. For now, there's Fandom, and that's cool with me. Now how about you, Gilmore? Life story time. I know you're a New England girl, but no clue where. You can just give me the Sixteen version if you want. Life, love, family, favorite flavor of cheesecake?"

"Stars Hollow, Connecticut," she said promptly, smiling and happy enough to move on. "It's about half an hour outside Hartford. Family's complicated - Mom and stepdad are here, obviously, and if you've seen my mother recently then you know we're getting a mini-them in a couple months. My biological dad's in Hartford with my half-sister and contacts me when he feels like it. The love aspect's boring since I'm giving up on that for awhile. Life is boring too. I'm going to Harvard once I graduate from here, and majoring in journalism with the idea of becoming the next Christiane Amanpour. And as for cheesecake, I like it with strawberries. Because seriously, who doesn't?"

"Strawberries are girly, but I can't argue with you. It's the best kind of cheesecake."
